CAREER:
Became the first
true freshman to start at cornerback on opening day in UF history in 2007...Has
started 26 games at cornerback for the Gators.
2008: Started all 14 games at
cornerback...His 87 tackles on the season ranked second on the team and first
among defensive backs...Led the defense in the BCS National Championship game
with 10 tackles and two pass break-ups...First among Gator defenders with eight
tackles in the SEC Championship Game against Alabama, including six solo...Also
made his third interception of the season and returned it 24 yards while
collecting two pass break-ups against Alabama...Led the Gator defense with 10
total tackles (seven solo), one pass break-up and an interception that was
returned 88 yards against Georgia...The 88-yard interception return matched the
fourth-longest in school history and was the longest in the SEC for the 2008
season...Blocked a field goal that led to a Florida touchdown in the win over
Kentucky...Had 11 tackles and an interception inside the red zone in the win at
Arkansas...Collected five tackles, half a sack, half a tackle-for-loss, broke
up one pass, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble in the season opener
against Hawaii.
2007: Started 12 games at cornerback as a
true freshman... Missed the Florida State game due to an ankle sprain...Was
selected to the Sporting News Freshman All-America Team,
CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman Team and was chosen for the Coaches’ All-SEC
Freshman team...Became the first true freshman in Florida history to start at
cornerback and recorded two tackles in his first contest...Led all cornerbacks
in total tackles with 63 on the season and ranked sixth overall on the
team...Ranked eighth in tackles for loss with 3.5 and led all defensive backs...Led
the Gators and tied for fifth in the SEC with 12 pass break-ups...Recovered one
fumble versus Auburn, the first of his career...Had a game-high 13 tackles, 10
solo, and one pass break-up versus Kentucky...Made his first career
interception and returned it for 10 yards versus LSU on the Tigers’ first
offensive possession of the game.
PREP: A high school quarterback who was
rated third among athletes by Rivals.com…Set Maryland public school record with
7,371 career passing yards and tied the career mark for touchdown passes with
80…Passed for 2,783 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior and rushed for 899
yards and 13 TDs…Had a chance to play receiver for the first quarter of a game
as a senior, making five catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns…Later moved
back to quarterback for the remainder of the game, he threw for 117 yards and
three scores and also ran for a TD…Chipped in defensively in that contest with
an interception playing safety…During his junior season, Haden threw for 2,090
yards and 22 TDs and rushed for more than 500 yards…Chose Florida over
Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Tennessee…Ran the 40-yard dash at the Elite College
Combine in Waldwick, N.J., in 4.34 while also posting a vertical jump of 37
inches, a 10’4” broad jump and did 40 reps of 185 pounds on the bench…High
school coach was Marcus Berry.
