What They Are Saying About Markus Manson

“He’s got a lot of natural skills, and they’re all being used differently now.  He can run and he can catch up and he’s got great size for a corner.  He’s never done it before, so he’s obviously on a learning curve.  A million things can happen, so you take it one step at a time and get the fundamentals built.  He’s doing a nice job.” (4/12/07)
Chuck Heater, UF cornerbacks coach

"He is just really a special football player.  He works really hard to achieve where he is now.  He is a tem leader and team player.  He best quality is being a team player." (February 15, 2004)
Bart Harper, Hillcrest High School head football coach

"He's a very complete back.  He runs well and has the NFL body of a running back.  He gets in and out of a cut as good as anybody I've ever seen coming out of high school.  He has the ability to finish runs.  There are some 20-or 30-yard guys who get tackled, but Marcus is a guy who doesn’t get caught.  He catches the ball well out of the backfield.  Marcus has a very compact running style."  (March 15, 2004)

“He has kind of confirmed what we saw on tape.  He is a very explosive guy that has some natural ability and instincts…He is a guy that can do all the things that we expect him to do, it’s just a matter of him getting comfortable and confident in the offense.” (August 19, 2004)
Mike Locksley, Former UF Recruiting Coordinator/Running Backs Coach

"Manson is blessed with a good combination of size, speed and power and should fit in very nicely with the stable of backs already at Florida." (March 15, 2004)
Jamie Newberg, TheInsiders.com

“He ran with the second and third group and it was good for him.  The more he plays, the better and better he’ll be. I’m real happy with the way he’s progressing.  This freshman class is continuing to be impressive in camp.” (August 16, 2004)
Ron Zook, Former UF Head Coach

“I want to improve on my mental aspect of the game and be ready on Sept. 3 when my number gets called.” (8/9/2005)
Markus Manson

“[He] has speed and bounce. It’s heavy out here. The guys ran [conditioning drills] this morning, and they looked heavy-legged [at practice]. Markus Manson came out here and bounced around today. I noticed him.” (8/9/2005)
Urban Meyer, UF Head Coach

“Markus Manson, UF’s home run hitter at the position is going to get his touches.” (8/8/2005)
Gainesville Sun

“I think Markus (Manson) is taking care of the ball a little better than he has and he shows flashes. I watch our backs, and I watch Alabama’s backs and look at speed. Markus does have that speed to hit the hole. So this week in practice, Markus is going to get the opportunity to carry the ball.” (10/3/05)
Urban Meyer, UF Head Coach

"That was a tough day for him today. It was a positive," Meyer said. "We're putting him in game-like situations." (10/5/05)
Urban Meyer, UF Head Coach
