2002: The backup kicker behind Matt Leach…Dressed for 10 games (UAB, Miami, Ohio, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, FSU, Michigan) but only saw action on one play…Faked a hold on a field-goal attempt vs. LSU but his pass to running back Ran Carthon fell incomplete…

2001: Began collegiate career at Wake Forest where he redshirted and transferred after his initial year to play football for Florida…

JEFF WHITAKER

  • Says he chose Florida because he has "loved it as long as I can remember"
  • A member of the National Honor Society in high school, also considered Princeton, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech
  • Favorite sports personality is former Gator Danny Wuerffel, saying, "Every Gator fan my age loves him."
  • Father Gil played football for Vanderbilt and grandfather Edward played football for Georgia. Cousin Bryan Brennan played basketball for Georgia Tech (1994-97)
  • Was a quarterback for Nease HS in Ponte Vedra Beach, setting school records for single season (1,537) and career (3,754) passing yards
  • Began his college FB career at Wake Forest, where he was a scholarship quarterback. During his time at Wake, Whitaker was teammates with C.J. Leak. Whitaker described Leak as an 8th grader as "you knew as soon as you saw him play he would be awesome."
  • Left his scholarship at Wake Forest to play for his favorite team- the Gators. As a walk-on, was picked from a group of 25 students to make the team
