MATT LEACH

  • Kicked a 51-yard field goal in high school

MATT LEACH

"Not only does Leach have a strong leg, he has been coming on strong, especially in terms of consistency. He's had an excellent preseason and is kicking with much more confidence than a year ago." (August 25, 2003)

"Matt Leach looks like a different field goal kicker than he did in 2002. He's much calmer, much more confident in what he's doing and the result was a three-for-three first half. Ron Zook obviously has confidence in Leach, so he's not going to hesitate to take the three instead of going for those fourth-and-short gambles." (August 31, 2003)
Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun

"Shining brightest was junior field goal kicker Matt Leach. It was a sharp beginning for a kicker who struggled with his consistency a year ago." (August 31, 2003)
Brandon Zimmerman, Gainesville Sun

"He hits the ball as well as anyone I've ever been around." (November 6, 2002)

"Matt's got a great leg. He proved that. He's missed very few kicks this whole (preseason) camp. He hit them all (in back-to-back practices earlier this week). He's consistent, he's confident. (Holder) Sean Morton is doing a good job of sticking the ball in the same spot where it's supposed to be and Matt can relax and kick the football." (August 25, 2003)

"To me, Matt is one of the better kickers in the country. With him and (holder) Casey Griffith, the timing is good. Matt's got a lot of confidence. I always felt he was a good kicker, even in our first year when people were trying to run him out of here. He's a guy who just needed some good things to happen to him, and they did."(August 14, 2004)
Ron Zook, former UF Head Coach
