What They're Saying About MATT PIOTROWICZ

"He provides the most excitement of anyone on special teams, an amazing feat for a kickoff specialist. Piotrowicz booms them high and long, then sprints down the field to knock the returner low and flat." (Preseason 2002)

"He's a kamikaze kicker if there ever was one." (August 17, 2002)

"Piotrowicz's high, booming kickoffs are what everyone first noticed about him last season. Then it was those booming, bone-crushing hits he started putting on unsuspecting return men."
Robbie Andreu, Gainesville Sun

"His attitude is, 'I'm not going to just try and kick the ball, I'm going to try and knock somebody's head off.' He does that. He's a hard-nosed guy. He's probably one of the most hard-nosed kickers I've ever seen in my life." (August 17, 2002)
Taylor Jacobs, former UF wide receiver and second-round selection by the Washington Redskins in the 2003 NFL Draft

"Most kickers have the image of being soft and laid back. Petro played linebacker in high school and was a state wrestling champion. We know he has that mentality to go down and wake a few people up." (August 17, 2002)

"He's rare. He'll kick off and be the first one to run down and make the tackle. On special teams you want to see who's going to get the big hit of the week, who has the hit of the game. Nine times out of 10, it's Petro. We get a kick out of that." (August 17, 2002)
Keiwan Ratliff, former UF Defensive Back
