1999: First-Team Freshman All-America selection by The Sporting News... Named to Coaches' and Knoxville News-Sentinel SEC All-Freshman Teams... Named UF's Outstanding Freshman... SEC Academic Honor Roll selection... Moved into the starting spot at left tackle (starting with LSU game in week six) when Cooper Carlisle moved to left guard to replace Ryan Kalich who suffered a knee injury... Played in 10 of 12 games (all but Tennessee and Alabama) with eight starts (Western Michigan, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Florida State and Alabama (SEC Championship Game) for 652 plays... Also started Citrus Bowl... Averaged 65.2 snaps per game, which ranked second most on offensive line... 652 total snaps ranked fifth on offensive line unit... Made first career start in the season opener at left tackle in place of Cooper Carlisle who was replacing the suspended Kenyatta Walker on the right side... 89 snaps vs. Western Michigan was most for anyone on the offensive unit... The Sporting News ranked him among the top 10 players in the nation and the top offensive lineman... Ranked among the nation's top two offensive tackle prospects by National Recruiting Advisor and that publication also ranked him among the top 10 overall players in the nation... Named the top weakside offensive tackle prospect in the nation by National Bluechips Recruiting Service... Named to SuperPrep All-America Team and that publication also ranked him among the top two offensive linemen in the country and among the top 25 players overall... Named to PrepStar's All-America Dream Team and that publication ranked him among the nation's top four offensive line prospects... Named to Florida's prestigious Super Seniors Team... A first-team (5A) all-state selection... A superior student (posted a 4.26 weighted GPA in a honors course program)... High school coach was Sean Callahan... Member of the National Honor Society, Latin Honor Society and president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes... Also visited Michigan and Ohio State...
