A redshirt senior walk-on...Four tackles and one pass deflection, along with nine tackles on special teams...Saw action in 36 regular season games for 285 plays and also played in the 1998 Citrus Bowl, 1999 Orange Bowl and 2001 Nokia Sugar Bowl...A four-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll (1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000)

2000 Season
A redshirt senior walk-on...Played in six of 12 games (Ball State, Middle Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi State, LSU and Florida State) for a total of 33 plays...Also played in the Sugar Bowl...A SEC Academic Honor Roll selection...Played a backup role at strong safety and also saw duty on special teams...One tackle on season

1999 Season
Top backup at strong safety and also saw duty on special teams... Played in all 12 games for 126 plays... SEC Academic Honor Roll... Injured his ankle in SEC Championship Game vs. Alabama and missed Citrus Bowl... One defensive tackle and four special teams tackles for the season... Named defensive unit's most improved walk-on during spring.

1998 Season
Saw action in each of UF's 11 regular season games for 89 plays... Also played in Orange Bowl... A backup at free safety who also played with UF's special teams... Three tackles and a pass deflection on defense and four special teams tackle... Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll... Three tackles in opener vs. The Citadel... One pass deflection and one special teams tackle vs. Georgia... Received defensive squad's Most Improved Walk-on Award during spring.

1997 Season
Saw action in five games for 37 plays... Also played in Citrus Bowl... Credited with one special teams tackle on the year.

1996 Season
Worked with the scout team but did not see any game action.

Prep
Named All-District in 1996... Helped team to second place in district in 1996 State Playoffs... Lettered in football, track and weightlifting... Was a member of state finalist 4x400 relay team in 1996... High school coach was Dennis Menuier... Received Gold Seal Scholarship in 1996.

Personal
Born Matthew Chrisman McCoun on March 9, 1978 in Ocala, Florida... Parents: Chris and Ann McCoun ... His grandfather, Fred Montsdeoca, was a punter for Florida from 1948-50 who still holds the Gator record for best punting average in a game (53.0 vs. Alabama, 1949)... His father, Chris, also played for UF as a linebacker from 1971-73 and his mother, Ann, attended UF... Member of Sigma Chi Fraternity... Enjoys water skiing and working out in his free time... Favorite movie is Rudy and favorite sports personality is Bill Bates... Major: Sports Management.
