Best Gator Moment: Among all the memories I have already made as a Gator football fan, I’ll describe my first. I ran into a crowd getting into to The Swamp for my first Gator game on opening day of 2011 against FAU. I was late and was in a half-sprint towards the student section attempting to make kickoff. As I heard the chomps and roar of the crowd, I turned to look down at the field from the south end zone and immediately paused to watch my team return the opening kick. Andre Debose received, shook a defender, followed his blockers, and went streaking down the sideline for a touchdown. The Swamp went crazy, the players on the sideline ran 15 yards onto the field in celebration, and an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction came over me. I knew wholeheartedly that I had chosen the right school and that I would be a lifelong Gator. The touchdown was called back and Andre Debose didn’t return a kickoff for a TD until the Gator Bowl against Ohio State, but nevertheless, I learned two things that day: get to The Swamp early to never miss kickoff and to have immense pride in being a Florida Gator.

Best Gator Moment: The absolute thrashing of Florida State for our first National Championship in 1996. Having attended the National Championship games on all three occasions, I can say that they truly rank FSU 1, OSU 2, and OU 3.

Best Gator Moment: Winning the first National Championship, and best of all was beating the ’Noles to do it. It was a great time in New Orleans. I have had some great times at away games being there when the team came off the bus and getting to see their faces as they prepare for the games. Having my sons and now my grandsons be able to see the players and coaches up close. Seeing the same faces of people who so faithfully travel to see the team play.

Best Gator Moment: 1997: “Green is behind the defense” - The whole game was special, but the last 3 plays of the game-winning drive were fantastic.

1993: “3rd-and-10” - Florida lost the game, but the energy of the crowd that day was phenomenal. I remember this play just before they scored their last TD as being one of the loudest moments in Swamp history. I say “one of” because I don’t think anything topped the celebration of the fans after the “Cock Block” by Jarvis Moss in 2006.

Best Gator Moment: The first time we legitimately won the SEC Championship. I was with my college roommate, whose dad played on the 1929-31 teams and passed away in the late 80’s. Joe watched the end of that game with tears in his eyes and kept wishing out loud that his dad had been alive to see this day that the sleeping giant had finally awakened. And it may seem counterintuitive but the year we went 0-10-1 was simply a ton of fun. We were so bad that the game played only a tiny part of the game day experience. When else have you ever heard an entire student body cheer, “2-4-6-8, SCORE before we graduate&rdqou;? That, too, is a great memory because it showed that “In All Kinds of Weather&rdqou; was more than just a song lyric.

Best Gator Moment: My best memory as a Gator fan is storming University Avenue after each of our four National Championships in basketball and football in 2006, 2007 and 2008. There was nothing more invigorating than being surrounded by thousands of fellow Gators ecstatic that we were on top of the sports world again. I was a student in undergrad and grad school from 2005 to 2011 and probably was in school during some of Florida’s greatest years as a sports school.

Best Gator Moment: Choose just one?!!! My first date with my husband decades ago. We had both graduated, and I’m sure he fell in love with me because like him, I held season tickets. As a single career woman, Gator grad, that made me the woman of his dreams. We drove to Gainesville, went to the Homecoming game, both sang our hearts out to the Alma Mater and We Are The Boys, had a great time and ate at Sonny’s BBQ on Archer Road afterwards. And held hands all the way back to Orlando. It was the start of a beautiful adventure we’ve been on for 20+ years and three kids later, together! Still driving to Gainesville, still going to games (with a LOT more seats) and still going to Sonny’s! And yes, all the kids came home from the hospital in Gator infant gear!!!

Best Gator Moment: My best memory, outside of being in the Swamp, would be attending the 2008 BCS Championship game in Miami. Great game with great friends and memories that will last a lifetime. My best memory in the Swamp is the 1997 UF vs. FSU game. The electricity in the stadium that day is something I had never experienced before and have never experienced again.

Best Gator Moment: It is very hard to narrow it down to one moment, but here goes – I think the greatest moment was the 1996 National Championship victory over FSU.

Best Gator Moment: My best memory as a Gator fan was my first football game in the Swamp! I was invited by a friend from my hometown that was currently at UF to attend the Florida vs. Tennessee game in 2007. I had no idea what to expect, as many people told me there is no way to describe what being in the Swamp is like and they were so right. The feeling you get when you are in the stands cheering for the Gators with thousands of other fans is purely unreal. It is like being with one giant family as you high-five the people that you had just met sitting in the row behind you and link arms with the strangers next to you to sing “We are the Boys.” If you have never heard the roar of the Orange and Blue chant, you do not know what you’re missing. The fact that the Gators won was an added benefit, but it was after that experience that I decided that I wanted to transfer to the University of Florida. I wanted to become a part of the Gator Nation. That was the greatest decision I have ever made and have been so grateful for that wonderful experience.
