2012: Competed in six competitions for the Gators her junior year…Set both 5K and 6K PRs in 2012…Scored in the top five for UF in all six competitions with top five overall finishes at the Western Carolina Invite (fourth) and the Mountain Dew Invite (fifth)…Her Mountain Dew Invite 5K was a PR (17:43.52), while her 6K PR came at the 2012 NCAA South Region Championship in Tallahassee (20:54.6) where she crossed the finish line fourth for UF…Scored fifth for the Orange and Blue at SECs in Nashville, helping the Gators to the 2012 SEC Championship, Florida’s third league title in a span of four years…Also scored fifth for UF at 2012 Nationals, where the Gators placed 23rd overall.
2011: Picked up USTFCCCA All-South Region Honors, her first career accolades from the organization, after recording a top-25 finish at the 2011 NCAA South Region Championship with a then-collegiate-best 21:03.55 6K race in Tuscaloosa…Placed 22nd overall and scored fourth for the Gators…Scored fifth or higher for Florida in four of five meets in 2011, including a season-best ninth-place overall finish at UF’s Mountain Dew Invitational…In addition to her 22nd-place finish at Regionals, crossed 24th overall in the field of athletes at the 2011 SEC Championship race in Maryville, Tenn.
2010: Worked her way to 2010 SEC All-Freshman Team honors her first year as a Gators, finishing in the top five in five of the six meets she ran in her inaugural campaign at Florida…Ran her collegiate-best 6K mark at the 2010 NCAA South Region Championship, where she clocked a 21:03.55…Ran a season-best 5K at the FSU Invitational, crossing the finish line in 18:05.6 as Florida’s second scorer…Finished fifth for Florida at the 2010 SEC Championship, helping the Gators to their second-consecutive SEC title with her 26th-place finish…Also competed at the 2010 NCAA Championship, scoring fifth for the Orange and Blue.
Prep: Coached by Roy Benson at Fernandina Beach high school…Was the 2008 and 2009 Florida Times Union North Florida Runner of the Year…FHSAA 2009 State Champion in the 3,200m…The Jacksonville Running Club’s Outstanding Cross Country Female Athlete of the Year…All-State in cross country and track seven times… Placed 36th in the Footlocker South Regionals…Took fourth in the 1600m at the Illinois Preparations…Placed 15th in the 3,200m at Indoor Nationals… Holds the 4x400, 4x800, 1,600m and 3,200m records at St. Charles North High School... Placed 13th in the 2006 Cross Country State Championship... Part of the 4x 004 relay team conference champions at St. Charles North High School… Had the only sub-18 minute 5K cross country time in the First Coast area her senior season…Held personal record times of 5:00.01 (1,600m), 11:04.84 (3,200m) and 17:56.50 (XC 5K) entering college.
Personal: Daughter of Stephan and Julie Strasser…Has a brother Michael and twin sister Christina…Father was an All-American in football and basketball and was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in baseball…Most memorable moment in athletic career was placing third in the 3,200m run at states as a freshman in Illinois…Also considered University of Georgia, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Florida State University, Princeton, Penn State and Georgia Tech…Chose Florida because of its excellence in athletics and academics and its very talented women’s cross country team with unlimited resources and support for student athletes.
