2001: Competed in four races ... Opened the 2001 season with a personal-best time of 25:56.30 for 10th place at the UCF Invitational ... Returned from a two-meet absence to clock a 26:48 8k time at the pre-NCAA Invitational ... Posted a 26:24.11 time at the SEC Championships for 49th place.

2000: Competed in all six meets, scoring in all but one of them... Finished sixth for the team and 55th overall at the South Region Championships with a time of 33:14.76 ... Finished fifth for the Gators with a time of 27:14.76, placing him 40th overall at the SEC Championships ...Was the fourth Florida scorer and 52nd overall at the Wolverine Interregional with a time of 26:36.00 ... Posted an 8k personal best of 26:06.99 at the Gator Invitational and placed 11th overall and fourth for the Gators ... Finished 15th with a time of 26:27.32 at the Tennessee Invitational... Registered his first career Top 10 finish with an eighth-place time of 20:56.46 at the Nike Twi-Light Invitational, his first collegiate race.

Track Highlights: Placed seventh in the 10,000m at the 2002 SEC Championships, setting a personal best time of 30:59.84 ... Also set a personal best in the 5,000m at the same meet to finish 10th ... Won the 5,000m at the Auburn Bank Invitational ... Earned his first career win at the Florida Field Event Classic in the 3,000m.

Prep: All his personal records are Colonial High School records ... Track and cross country MVP in high school as well as four-year captain of the cross country team ... Competed in the AAU and USATF cross country championships from 1994-2000 ... Represented Mexican-Americans at the Mexico Junior Olympics in 1998 by running in the 3000m.

Personal: Born March 30, 1982 in Mexico City, Mexico ... Son of Eduardo and Janet Hinojosa ... Has a younger sister, Mariangela ... Considered attending Miami, Georgia Tech and Rollins College before deciding on Florida.
