Wednesday May 23, 2012 Gators swimmer Beisel to make a splash on 'Today' Thursday morning in a pool at Rockefeller Center

Updated: 5:23pm, May 23

Gators swimmer Elizabeth Beisel is never at a loss for words. Beisel is a constant source of chatter around her teammates and coaches.

She's also one of the team's best swimmers, winning an NCAA title as a sophomore. One day, Beisel would like to use her verbal skills perhaps as a TV personality.

On Thursday morning Beisel will get a taste of TV life by appearing on one of the most popular shows on the tube: "Today."

Beisel is scheduled to appear on the popular morning show around 8:30 Thursday in the plaza at Rockefeller Center in New York. A pool will be set up and Beisel has been told that she will appear in a segment discussing swimming safety tips over Memorial Day weekend. She expects to be interviewed by Matt Lauer and Natalie Morales.

"They said it won't be very formal, just a funny type segment," Beisel said. "I'm excited. It will be cool."

What makes it cooler is that Beisel is a regular viewer of the show and has been for many years.

Beisel said she watches 'Today' regularly when she gets home from early morning practices. USA Swimming contacted her about the opportunity.

"I love the 'Today Show,' which is why I'm so excited about it. I grew up watching it every single morning with my mom before going to school,'' Beisel said. "It's like a dream job. I would love to be able to do the 'Today Show' one day.

"I was so excited when they called me."

Beisel has traveled the world competing in swimming events and was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team in Beijing, so she is used to media attention.

Where does an appearance on the 'Today Show' rank among her accomplishments?

"This might be like my top. I've never been on such a big show like this before and I've never gotten really TV time like this,'' she said.
