Tuesday April 26, 2011 Gators rank 6th in nation in producing NFL draft picks since 2000

True story: I saw a story on TV the other day on how TCU quarterback Andy Dalton’s red hair might affect his draft status.

Guess red-headed QBs haven’t had much luck in the NFL over the years – don’t tell former Redskins great Sonny Jurgensen that – so in the analyze-every-detail-possible era, Dalton’s hair color has been a hot topic around the Internet.

With the NFL Draft set to start Thursday, the wall-to-wall coverage is at a peak.

Rivals.com has an interesting look at what schools and conferences have produced the most NFL draft picks since the 2000 draft.

No surprise, the Gators are in the top 10, tied for sixth with Florida State with 59 draft picks in the last 11 drafts. The Gators are also tied for sixth with 12 first-round picks over the span, the same as Oklahoma and Tennessee.
