Punter Kyle Christy is one of four Gators who have undergone minor surgery since the Sugar Bowl.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gators coach Will Muschamp addressed the status of several players Friday at his news conference.

The most notable item he touched on involved redshirt freshman offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker, who ran into off-the-field trouble this week that involved a scooter.

Muschamp, who has been on the road recruiting, said he met with Dunker for around 15 minutes Friday morning and informed Dunker that he is suspended from all team activities indefinitely.

“Once we get a little more information, we’ll move forward,’’ Muschamp said.

If reinstated, Dunker is expected to challenge for playing time in spring practice.

Meanwhile, Muschamp said that junior defensive end Kedric Johnson and receiver Stephen Alli are scheduled to graduate this spring and will no longer be on the team.

Johnson suffered a season-ending knee injury in preseason camp and did not play last season. A product of Palmetto High, Johnson appeared in 25 games for the Gators in 2010 and 2011, recording nine tackles. Alli, a redshirt junior receiver from Andover, N.H., played mostly on kick coverage the past three seasons. Muschamp said there is a chance Alli could work with the team in some capacity as a graduate student but that nothing is finalized.

Also, offensive lineman Tommy Jordan is applying for a medical exemption due to a chronic shoulder injury and will finish school but no longer play football.

“We appreciate those guys’ contributions,’’ Muschamp said.

Johnson, Alli and Jordan join quarterback Jacoby Brissett (transferred to N.C. State) and running back Chris Johnson (release to transfer) on the list of departures since the Sugar Bowl. Four other players – Sharrif Floyd, Matt Elam, Jelani Jenkins and Jordan Reed – are entering the NFL Draft as underclassmen.

As far as injury updates, Muschamp said offensive lineman Jon Halapio (knee), linebacker Neiron Ball (ankle), offensive lineman Chaz Green (ankle) and punter Kyle Christy (shoulder) have had minor surgeries since the end of the season. He said all four players are expected to participate in spring practice to some degree.

And last but not least, receiver Solomon Patton (broken arm) has been cleared for non-contact drills in spring practice, and defensive end/linebacker Ronald Powell (knee) continues to rehab and is not expected to participate in spring drills according to Muschamp.
