NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Gators arrived at Vanderbilt Stadium about 30 minutes ago.
As they finished their journey through GatorWalk and into the stadium, the players and coaches got their first glimpse of the new FieldTurf playing surface that was installed here over the summer.
The last time Florida visited in 2010 the stadium still featured natural grass.
A U2 concert in July 2011 damaged the grass surface and the rock band paid to re-sod the field in time for Vanderbilt's 2011 season.
However, after the season the school decided to install FieldTurf in both the football and baseball stadiums in part due to the requests of football coach James Franklin and baseball coach Tim Corbin.
In the Gators' only other game on turf this season, they won 20-17 at Texas A&M in their SEC opener Sept. 8.
