Gators coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday that LB Jelani Jenkins has been cleared to play on Saturday against LSU.

Jenkins broke his right thumb early in the first quarter at Texas A&M and has not played since. He had a pin in the surgically repaired thumb removed on Friday and returned to practice wearing a protective cast on Monday.

“I feel very comfortable that he’ll be able to go and how much will sort of depend as we progress from here to Saturday,’’ Muschamp said. “We’ll still determine that through the week, but I mean he’ll be able to play in all situations.

“We wouldn’t necessarily limit it right now in my eyes as we move forward. If he can play, he can play, and that means he can play on first-and-10 and he can play on third down.”

Jenkins is a redshirt junior who has started 25 games in his career.

Meanwhile, F-Back Trey Burton (back), offensive lineman Chaz Green (ankle), tight end Jordan Reed (head), defensive end Dominique Easley (knee) and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (shoulder) are all expected to play. The only players Muschamp said are out are defensive back Cody Riggs (foot) and offensive lineman Matt Patchan (pectoral strain).
