Tuesday August 28, 2012 Florida's trip to Texas A&M on Sept. 8 takes on a new twist thanks to Hurricane Isaac

Updated: 5:52pm, August 28

The Gators' road game at Texas A&M on Sept. 8 took on a new twist late Tuesday afternoon when Louisiana Tech's official football Twitter feed sent out the following message:

"For the safety of fans and student-athletes, Louisiana Tech's game vs. Texas A&M has been postponed until Oct. 13."

With Hurricane Isaac approaching the Gulf Coast, it was an easy decision for Tech officials. What the postponement means for Texas A&M is that the Aggies' first game of the season, their first game under new coach Kevin Sumlin, and their first game as a member of the SEC will be against the Gators at Kyle Field.

The Gators open the season on Saturday against Bowling Green and will have a game in the books by the time they visit College Station.

However, they won't have game film of the Aggies under Sumlin.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M linebacker Steven Jenkins and defensive back Howard Matthews were suspended for Thursday's game at Louisiana Tech.

Whether or not the duo will now serve a suspension against the Gators remains uncertain.

Also, Aggies freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel won't have a game under his belt like the Gators' Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel. Manziel won the job in fall camp but has not played in a game.

Regardless, what already shaped up as a memorable game at Texas A&M just got more interesting.
