Summer Camps 2010

The Gator Soccer Academy is designed to provide the best possible soccer instruction for players of high quality in a structured environment. The goal is to provide a great learning experience through high level training. Instructing an attractive attacking game of soccer to all positions is a priority.

These camps are open to any and all entrants which meet their respective criteria.

Session Information

Girls only ages 9 to 15.

Each session is designed to cater to the advanced player. Technical and tactical sessions as well as advanced strength conditioning programs are introduced. Each session is limited to the first 300 applicants.

Goalkeepers
Goalkeepers will receive specialized training under the direction of an experienced GK coach. Keepers are trained in a separate setting with individual instruction through a low camper to staff ratio. Keepers will also be incorporated into the field player academy for match play.

Session III
Girls only ages 13 to 18.

Residential Only $620

The session is limited to the first 150 applicants. The session is designed to offer instruction to players seeking to play soccer at the collegiate level. The athlete will experience a week of specialized and specific training. Additionally, the athletes will face similar day to day challenges found at the collegiate level.

Camp Staff

University of Florida’s Head Coach Becky Burleigh will serve as Academy Director. Instructors will include associate head coach Vic Campbell and assistant coach Alan Kirkup together with an array of outstanding coaches from the college, club and high school ranks.

Housing and Meals

Overnight participants are housed in air conditioned residential halls on campus. Academy staff will stay with the participants in the dormitories providing supervision at all times. Meals for all participants are eaten at Gator Corner, a buffet style dining facility. Roommate requests are available. However, we ask that only one (1) roommate be requested per camper. Roommate requests are only guaranteed if both campers request each other.

Any resident participant losing their slide card and key will be charged $40.

Transportation

Transportation to and from Jacksonville Airport is available for $80 round trip. Please make arrangements at least one month in advance through the University of Florida soccer office at 352-375-4683 ext. 5554.

All flights should arrive no later than 8:00am on the day of registration and depart no earlier than 4:00pm on the day of departure.

Group Discounts

Group Discount Sessions I & II consist of at LEAST six campers.

Team Discount consists of at LEAST ten campers.

  • Team coaches or group representatives should send in team/group application and an attached list of at least 6 player’s names and email addresses for groups and at least 10 player’s names and emails for a team.
  • Gator Soccer Academy will contact each player via email with registration information once your team or group has been accepted. Each member of the team or group must complete our on-line registration or return an application no later than June 1st.
  • If a group or team does not meet the minimum number of required participants (6 group members or 10 team members) then Gator Soccer Academy reserves the right to charge the remaining participants the non-discounted rate for their camp session.

Discounts are not applicable to Session III.

What to Bring?

  • All participants: proper soccer equipment including soccer ball, soccer cleats and shin guards.
  • Cleats are not allowed in the dining facility, so a change of footwear in needed. Also bring, swimwear, sunscreen, and extra t-shirts, shorts and socks.
  • For those staying overnight bring towels,
    twin size sheets, blanket, pillow, alarm clock, toiletries, pajamas.
  • Gatorade & Water will be provided at camp.

Medical Insurance

The Academy carries an EXCESS medical
insurance policy to cover medical expenses for
injuries/accidents which occur in the course of
the academy’s activities. Medical expenses which are declined payment through the participant’s personal insurance and/or through the excess policy become the responsibility of the participant’s parents/guardians. Each participant must have their own insurance coverage to participate.
