Aneika (uh-KNEE-kuh) Henry was an athletic post player with a long wing span who could block shots and run the floor well ... in her two-year career at UF blocked 110 shots which ranks sixth all-time ... shot a steady 53.7 percent from the floor during her Gator tenure ... eight career double-figure scoring games and two double-figure rebounding games … had never played an organized sport - including basketball - until the ninth grade, when she was spotted in the halls of Coral Gables Senior High School by a coach, who taught her the game … born in Jamaica, where she lived for 11 years before her family moved to Florida … began coursework at UF in the Fall of 2007 … scheduled to earn a B.S. degree in Family, Youth & Community Sciences with a minor in Education in May of 2009.
Senior Year (2008-09)
Appeared in all 32 games, earning one start (at LSU, Feb. 15) … scored in 25 and grabbed at least one rebound in 25 contests … first post off the bench … team-leader with 47 blocked shots (No. 6 in SEC), which ranked as the 11th-most in a season in UF history ... had a season-long streak with at least one blocked shot in 14 consecutive games ... blocked a season-high five shots at Alabama (Feb. 5), when she became the sixth Gator to surpass the 100 block milestone for a career ... along with her five blocks, scored 11 points, hitting 5-of-7 from the free throw line against the Tide … grabbed a season-high eight rebounds at No. 9/8 Auburn (Jan. 11), when she scored six points and played a season-long 21 minutes … scored a season-high 12 points in back-to-back games (vs. Jacksonville, Nov. 17, and Stetson, Nov. 20) … opened the first drill of the first practice of the 2008-09 season with a dunk, doing so twice during that initial practice, igniting an upbeat and enthusiastic session the evening of Oct. 17th at the Basketball Complex … usually dunked during one of the warm-up drills each pre-game shoot-around … 3 double-figure scoring games.
Junior Year (2007-08)
One of five Gators who played in all 33 games … earned 24 starting assignments … grabbed at least one rebound in every game and scored in all except five … accounted for 63 of UF’s 105 total blocked shots, ranking fourth in the SEC (all games) with 1.91 per game … fouled out of UF’s WNIT second-round game in just nine minutes, scoring two points and grabbing one rebounds and blocking on shot ... UF’s third-leading rebounder (184, 5.6 rpg) and sixth-leading scorer (152, 4.6 ppg) … tied for a team-leading 53.1 percent (67-124) shooting from the floor, but didn’t have enough attempts to rank among the SEC’s accuracy leaders … played a career-long 32 minutes in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal game against Tennessee (March 7) … her defensive rebound in the final seconds against South Carolina (Jan. 27) when the Gamecocks were furiously crashing the boards, helped secure UF’s three-point road win … scored a career-high 17 points versus Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 4), hitting 8-of-8 from the field … grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds against FAMU (Jan. 2), also blocking a career-best six shots in that contest …five double-figure scoring games … two double-figure rebounding games … zero double-doubles.
Freshman & Sophomore Years (2005-07)
Attended Seminole Community College, where she earned her Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in General Education on May 5, 2007 … enrolled at SCC on June 14, 2004, but did not begin playing for the Raiders basketball team until the 2005-06 season … rated ninth overall and second for her position in the 2007 Junior College All-Star Report ... totaled 442 points, 432 rebounds and 173 blocked shots during her two-year career with the Lady Raiders ... shot 53.96 percent (109-of-202) from the field during the 2006-07 season, the seventh-highest mark among all FCCAA/NJCAA Region VII players, while her rebound average of 7.8 ranked 12th … named Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA) Second-Team All-Conference both seasons ... helped SCC to a fourth-place finish at the 2007 FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII state tournament, as she averaged 10 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.6 blocks, while hitting 54.0 percent (109-202) of her shots from the floor and tallying six double-doubles ... swatted 108 shots her freshman year, the second-highest single-season total in program history, also contributing 7.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game ... collected a SCC-record 20 rebounds during the game against Miami-Dade College during the 2005-06 season ... in 2007 was SCC’s female recipient of a $1,000 Nick Anderson Orlando Magic Scholarship … coached by Maureen Smith.
Attended Coral Gables Senior High School for four years (2000-04), receiving her Certificate of Completion on June 10, 2004 before earning a General Education Diploma from the state of Florida … played her senior season under coach Laly Abalate.
