Briana Phillips is an extremely strong post player who has some range from the outside … can run the floor in transition … trained and conditioned in Gainesville in addition to completing classes during the 2005 Summer B session … the NBA player she most reminds Coach Peck of is Ben Wallace, "who might be undersized but can punish you defensively" … high school teammates with current Gator sophomore Depree Bowden … named to the 2005 and 2006 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll ... named to the 2004 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll.
Junior Year (2005-06)

Sophomore Year (2004-05)
Appeared in all 29 games, averaging 9.4 minutes of action … scored in 18 games, including each of the first five and six of the last eight … named to the 2005 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll ... totaled 74 points and 41 rebounds, shooting 45.8 percent (33-72) from the floor … scored a career-high 11 points against USF (March 17) in the season finale, hitting 5-of-5 from the floor and 1-of-2 free throws … huge game off the bench in the win at Kentucky (Feb. 10), scoring seven points on 3-of-3 shooting, while dishing one assist and collecting one steal … tied her career high with four rebounds at Vanderbilt (Jan. 30) while scoring four points, after totaling just three points in UF's five previous games … recorded the first double-figure scoring game of her career with 10 points while tying a career-high of four rebounds in the win against Akron (Nov. 27), playing a career-long 19 minutes … led UF with three steals against Stetson (Dec. 8) … had more offensive rebounds (26) than defensive boards (15) … one double-figure scoring game.
Freshman Year (2003-04)
Played in 10 games, totaling 46 minutes of action … hit 4-of-8 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line … her last appearance came against Arkansas on February 22, when she hit one free throw and grabbed a pair of rebounds ... versus Kentucky on Feb. 8 she scored five points and grabbed two rebounds in eight minutes of court time … scored a season-high nine points with four rebounds while playing a season-long 16 minutes against Bethune-Cookman (Dec. 19) … saw her first collegiate action against LaSalle (Nov. 23) and scored her first collegiate basket in the win … named to the 2004 Southeastern Conference Freshman Academic Honor Roll.
Graduated in 2003 from Southeast High School, where she was coached by John Harder … played for the six-time state champion AAU team Clearwater Greenwave, coached by Jon East … ended her stellar career with 1,493 points and 1,383 rebounds … only player in school history to have amassed 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds … selected to the 2003 FHSAA Class 4A All-Tournament Team after leading the Seminoles to the state title game where they lost 63-59 to Ribault … scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting with a game-high 20 rebounds in the championship game, also her prep finale … her senior year she helped Southeast compile a 31-4 record while she scored 402 points and 372 rebounds … contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds in Southeast's 67-65 upset over Class 5A No. 1 Clearwater on December 31, 2002 … instrumental in leading the Seminoles to a 29-4 record and a district title her junior year, when she averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks per game … the Seminoles reached the regional finals all four years with Phillips on the court … in June 2003, named the Sarasota Herald-Tribune's Most Outstanding Female Athlete for Manatee County … 2000 and 2003 Player of the Year for Manatee County … 2003 Player of the Year for Sarasota County … named 4A All-State First Team in 2003, 4A All-State Second Team in 2001, 4A All-State Third Team in 2002 and All-Area First Team each of her final three years … received recognition as a adidas Top Ten Camp Underclass All-Star (2001), an Upperclass All-Star and is a two-time Street & Smith All-America honorable mention honoree (2001, 2002) … participated in the 2003 L'adidas All-Star game, contributing seven points on 3-of-5 shooting and seven rebounds for the victorious East team … also played in the FACA All-Star Game … also considered Auburn, Georgia Tech, LSU and Old Dominion during the recruiting process … four-year starter at middle and outside hitter for the Southeast HS volleyball team, setting school records for most kills, most career kill attempts and most blocks for a career and in a season.
