AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE IN 2013-14 (Duke): Played in five contests for the Blue Devils for a total 33 minutes of action and averaged 1.0 point and 1.0 rebound before making the decision to transfer to Florida.

 

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 2012-13 (Duke): Averaged 2.1 points and 1.0 rebound in 31 games ... shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the field… Converted the first three-point play of his career against Virginia Tech... scored six consecutive points by converting the three-point play and hitting a three-pointer… Recorded his first dunk as a Blue Devil in a win over N.C. State… Turned in double-digit scoring for the second time in his career against Miami... totaled 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field while also pulling down five rebounds… Scored the first points of his career with a 10-point performance against Delaware... also recorded the first made field goal, made three-point field goal, made free throw and steal of his Duke career in a season-high 21 minutes of play ... added seven rebounds, a block and a steal in the win… Recorded the first block of his career in the Battle 4 Atlantis title game against No. 2 Louisville… Came off the bench to play two minutes against No. 3 Kentucky in his Duke debut.

 

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2011-12 (Duke): Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll… Redshirted and did not see game action… Played in all three of Duke’s international games versus the Chinese National Team and the exhibition versus United Arab Emirates ... averaged 4.3 points per game while shooting .500 (8-of-16) from the floor… Also played in Duke’s exhibition contests versus Bellarmine and Shaw, drawing the start against Bellarmine ... hit is only shot — a three-pointer — against Shaw for three points.

 

PREP: Three-year letterwinner at St. Mark’s… Reclassified from the class of 2012 to bypass his final year of high school basketball and become a member of Duke’s 2011 recruiting class… Transferred back to South Kingstown High School to complete his degree requirements to attend Duke after his junior year… Named Independent School League Player of the Year as a junior after leading St. Marks to a 28-3 overall record… Averaged 21.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 2011… Posted 27 points and 15 rebounds in a double-overtime win over Northfield Mount Hermon… Selected to play in the fifth annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 game prior to his junior season, joining future Duke teammates Austin Rivers, Quinn Cook and Michael Gbinije … scored nine points in the contest… Named to the adidas Nation’s 2012 team during his sophomore season… Helped lead St. Marks to a NEPSAC Class C Championship as a freshman… Ranked in the top 50 by Scout.com (No. 37), ESPNU 100 (No. 40) and Rivals.com (No. 45)… Ranked 49th by the recruiting Services Consensus Index… Played AAU basketball for the New England Playaz … helped the team to a championship at the 2010 West Virginia Jam Fest… Played for the U-20 Finnish National Team in the 2012 FIBA U-20 World Championships… Finished as the team’s leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker ... averaged 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals per game.

 

PERSONAL: Son of former Boston College great and NBA player Jay Murphy and Finland national team player Paivi Murphy… Jay played in the NBA for four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Bullets from 1984-88… He scored 1,798 points in his collegiate career at Boston College, averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 Has two brothers, Erik and Tomas… Older brother, Erik, was a second round pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2013 NBA Draft and played for the Gators from 2009-13… Works out in the offseason with former NBA player Chris Herren.
