A versatile two-guard with solid range and a smooth touch from the perimeter… A match-up problem for other guards with his height and quick release… Started one game his freshman season and played a significant role off the bench, stretching opposing defenses out with his ability to knock down threes… Has continued to work hard in the off-season and should develop into a key part of the Gators' rotation in 2006-07…

PREP: Averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game during his senior season … Led his team to the first 2A state title in school history and a No. 7 final national ranking in the USA Today poll… As a junior he averaged 21.0ppg and was a First Team All-State and All-City selection and was the Player of the Year in Florida 2A basketball… Helped his team to the first state title in school history… During his junior year he hit a school record 10 three-pointers in one game… Coached in high school by Rex Morgan… Played on the AAU level with the Miami Tropics where he averaged 20.5 points per game… Lists the best players he's played against as Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, Gerald Green of the Boston Celtics and Martell Webster of the Portland Trail Blazers…

"David can flat out shoot the ball, in my opinion he's the best shooter in the country. But his game is much more complete than just jumpshots. He has a good basketball I.Q., nice handle and likes to get his teammates involved. " -Miami Tropics AAU Head Coach Art Alvarez

"Huertas shoots the ball extremely well off the pass. Young and with large feet, he is still growing. Lack of quickness can be a liability on defense and in creating his own shot. He is getting better at creating off the dribble and getting stronger will help him come along further in that area." -Jerry Meyer of Rivals.com
