- Dave Houts
Dave Houts has been associated with the Gator athletic program since 1977, and became a full-time member of the University Athletic Association as Director of Video Services in 1989. During his time at Florida, Houts has been instrumental in developing the video digital technologies and facilities that serve a variety of Gator athletic teams, including baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, men's and women's golf, soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving and volleyball. These technologies have significantly contributed to the numerous NCAA and SEC championships brought back to Gainesville by the Orange and Blue. For his efforts, the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) recognized Houts as the 2006 SEC Video Coordinator of the Year.
The Pontiac, Mich., native has also worked with the National Football League, Major League Baseball, NASCAR, the 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as on such movies as Parenthood and Just Cause. Houts was a member of the United States Peace Corps' Brazil Amazon Project before earning his bachelor of arts degree in anthropology from Western Michigan in 1971. Houts was a Vietnam Era veteran with the Army Engineering Center at Fort Belvoir in Virginia.
He received his bachelor of science degree in journalism in 1975 from UF, where he earned academic honors. Houts and his wife, Beth, have two children, Matthew (36) and Sara (23). Matthew graduated from Florida in 2001 and Sara graduated from Santa Fe College in 2013.
