AS A JUNIOR (2014): Chosen in the fourth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 131st choice…Earned second-team All-America recognition from Louisville Slugger and was a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award as the nation’s top catcher…Batted a career-high .316 and led the Gators in total bases (105), RBI (49), doubles (16), sacrifice flies (11), homers (6) and slugging percentage (.467)…Named first-team All-SEC after leading the league with a .389 clip in conference play… Was the runner-up in slugging percentage (.583) and on-base percentage (.449)...Roped a game-tying, two-run single as the Gators eliminated No. 6 South Carolina from the SEC Tournament…Tabbed the SEC Player of the Week on May 19 after going 7-for-11 (.636) in the series victory at Tennessee that clinched the SEC Championship…Had a pair of three-hit outings, with four RBI, four walks and three doubles against the Vols…Went 3-for-4 with a two-run double and solo homer in the regular-season finale…Came through with a 3-for-4, two-double performance in UF’s 4-2 win that locked up the SEC crown for the third time in five years…Tied career high with three walks and was 1-for-3 in the series opener…Drove in the game’s only run with a two-out single in the first inning as Florida captured the series opener against No. 10 Vanderbilt…Tied the second game at No. 20 Alabama with a solo shot in the sixth inning…Had started the series with the Crimson Tide with a pair of sacrifice flies…Led the Orange and Blue with a .417 (5-for-12) performance in the sweep of Missouri after going 4-for-9 (.444) in the three wins over Georgia…Came through with a 3-for-5 effort in the rubber game at No. 4 South Carolina…Matched his career high with four RBI at No. 19 Kentucky as Florida evened the series…Blasted a towering three-run homer in the nightcap of the doubleheader with No. 4 LSU...Was a sizzling 7-for-11 (.636) in the series at Texas A&M…Led the Gator offense with a .500 (6-for-12) clip at No. 17 Miami (FL), featuring a 4-for-4 showing in the second contest…Started the campaign by going 4-for-11 (.364) versus Maryland…Broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run single and also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to lift the Gators to the series victory over the Terps on Sunday.

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2013): Chosen to the SEC Academic Honor Roll…One of the three Gators to start all 59 games, joining Justin Shafer and Casey Turgeon…Made 56 starts behind the plate and three as Florida’s designated hitter…Had a .269 batting average, led the Orange and Blue with 33 RBI, tied Shafer and Turgeon for the team lead with five homers and matched Harrison Bader for the top spot with a pair of triples…Scored 27 runs, drew 22 walks, totaled 13 doubles, delivered four sacrifice flies and was 3-for-6 on the basepaths…Was second on the team with 17 multiple-hit efforts and tied Turgeon for the most multiple-RBI games with seven…Ranked fourth on the club with a .278 clip in SEC play, with 16 RBI, 15 runs and 15 extra-base hits (nine doubles, four homers, two triples)…Went 2-for-5 in the opener with Auburn and had a run-scoring single as part of a four-run seventh inning…Was 2-for-3 with an RBI single against Florida A&M…Closed weekend at No. 3 LSU by going 2-for-3 and opened the scoring with an RBI triple into right field…Batted .333 (4-for-12) in the series victory over Tennessee, with four RBI and three doubles…Blasted a three-run jack in the 7-2 win over the Vols that began the set and was 2-for-4 in the contest…Ripped a two-run double in the 12-1 win over USF and was 2-for-3…Led UF with a .438 (7-for-16) performance at Missouri, including three-hit outputs in both game one and game three…Came through with a two-run double down the right-field line to give the Gators some breathing room against Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers…Powered the club’s offense with a .455 (5-for-11) series at Mississippi State…Had a career-high three doubles and was 3-for-4 with two RBI in the first matchup with the Bulldogs…Batted .364 (4-for-11) and scored three runs in the series win over No. 11 Ole Miss…Lifted the Gators to a game-one conquest of No. 2 Vanderbilt with a three-run blast in the sixth inning that snapped a 1-1 tie…Was 2-for-3 and scored twice as UF emerged victorious over the Commodores by a 7-1 score…Led off the fourth stanza with a homer and was 2-for-4 during the 9-4 win over North Florida…Contributed an RBI single in the third inning as the Gators evened their series with Indiana…Was 3-for-8 (.375) with a team-leading four RBI against Miami (FL)…Put UF on top during the second game with the Hurricanes courtesy of a two-run single into right field and was 2-for-3 with three RBI in the 6-4 decision…Lashed a two-run double to right field in the finale with Duke.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2012): Having started at Florida in January, Gushue appeared in 52 games and made 39 starts (28-1B, 6-DH, 5-C) during his rookie campaign…Batted .206 with 23 walks, 21 RBI, 21 runs, eight doubles and five homers in overall games and hit .143 with seven RBI and five runs in 21 SEC outings …Was the only Gator chosen as the SEC’s Freshman of the Week twice during the season (February 20, March 5)…Walked twice, singled and scored against Kent State at the NCAA College World Series…Delivered a pinch-hit, leadoff single in the ninth inning versus South Carolina in UF’s CWS opener…Batted .333 (4-for-12) in the series with LSU, including a 2-for-4 performance in the Gators’ 7-0 shutout with an RBI double…Doubled to drive in a run and lofted a sacrifice fly during the 9-4 win over Ole Miss…Drew a pair of walks and scored two runs in Florida’s 4-1 triumph in Jacksonville against Florida State…Connected on a solo shot in the third game against Vanderbilt as the Gators started SEC action 3-0 for the fourth time in five years…Had a two-run double as part of a four-run seventh inning to lift UF to a 10-2 win in the league opener versus the Commodores…Snapped a 2-2 tie with a solo homer in the seventh frame in the 3-2 decision over Florida Gulf Coast that completed a weekend sweep…During the weekend set with Miami, Gushue hit .400 (4-for-10), with four RBI, three runs and a pair of homers…In Saturday night’s series-clinching victory, the rookie tied the game at 3-3 with a fourth-inning solo shot right after Brian Johnson’s two-run jack and snapped a 5-5 stalemate the following inning with a towering three-run bomb that landed in the third level of the parking garage overlooking right field…Added a single in the sixth and was hit by a pitch in the eighth on his way to a career-best 3-for-4, four-RBI performance…In Sunday’s dramatic come-from-behind win for the Orange and Blue, as the Gators scored five runs in the ninth to turn a 5-3 deficit into an 8-5 triumph, Gushue was 1-for-3 with a run scored and was hit by a pitch in the last inning with the score tied…Tabbed as the initial SEC Freshman of the Week for the 2012 season after a memorable opening weekend…Gushue was one of three freshmen to start on Opening Night for head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s club, joining third baseman Josh Tobias and second baseman Casey Turgeon…Gushue homered on the first pitch he saw as a collegian Friday night in the Gators’ opener against No. 16 Cal State Fullerton…With a solo shot with two down in the second inning off CSF ace Dylan Floro, Gushue became the first UF player to homer on his first swing since Chris Freshcorn accomplished the feat on March 5, 2008, against Campbell...Austin Maddox homered in his first collegiate at bat against USF on Feb. 19, 2010…Gushue moved Florida in front on Saturday with a two-run triple in the fourth inning of an eventual 5-2 win and batted .286 (2-for-7) with three RBI, two runs and a 1.000 slugging percentage in the two games he played.

 

SUMMER: Played for the Yarmouth-Dennis (Mass.) Red Sox of the Cape Cod League in 2013…Batted .224 in 27 games and tallied nine RBI…Drew 10 walks, scored nine runs, with five doubles, a pair of homers and a triple…Joined Gator teammates Daniel Gibson and Bobby Poyner on the Madison (Wis.) Mallards in 2012…Was rated No. 16 in Perfect Game’s Top Prospects for the Northwoods League…Had a .250 average in 21 games, with 14 RBI, 12 runs, nine walks, two doubles a couple of homers.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Catcher from Calvary Christian Academy who played for head coach Greg Mucerino…Graduated high school in December of 2011 after earning first-team all-state and first-team all-county all three years of his high school career…Collected All-American accolades from Max Prep in 2009 and 2010 and was named as a Perfect Game Preseason All-American in 2011…Finished with a career batting average of .472 (102-for-216) and a school-record 30 homers…Batted .390 with 25 RBI, nine homers and a .915 slugging percentage as a junior…Had ranked No. 16 in the state of Florida and rated No. 96 nationally in the Class of 2012 Rankings from Perfect Game…Hit .530 with 35 RBI, 35 runs, 11 homers, seven doubles and a slugging percentage of 1.136 during his sophomore campaign…Batted .484 with 43 RBI, 10 round-trippers and had a 1.011 slugging percentage as a freshman in 2009…Was also a member of the swim team at CCA.
