AS A FRESHMAN (2012): Named a first-team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game and a second-team Freshman A-A by Baseball America…Started 65 of Florida’s 67 games at second base and batted .281 with 35 runs, 30 RBI, 27 walks, 11 doubles and 10 stolen bases in 13 attempts…In seven NCAA Tournament outings, he registered a .357 (10-for-28) clip and he ranked second on the club with a .364 average in 37 non-conference games...Turgeon became the ninth Freshman All-American in head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s tenure, joining Josh Adams (2008), Preston Tucker (2009), Nolan Fontana (2010), Brian Johnson (2010), Austin Maddox (2010), Hudson Randall (2010), Mike Zunino (2010) and Karsten Whitson (2011)…Went 3-for-5 and scored twice in the second game of the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional against No. 11 NC State…Voted as the Gainesville Regional’s Most Outstanding Player after batting .600 (6-for-10) over UF’s three victories, with five RBI, four runs, two doubles, two walks and a homer… In his NCAA Tourney debut, he went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the second inning and a three-run homer in the fifth inning to account for the Gators’ four runs against Bethune-Cookman and made a leaping grab for the final out to preserve Jonathon Crawford’s no-hitter in the 4-0 triumph…Turgeon doubled and scored in the 6-2 win over Georgia Tech in the winner’s bracket contest and was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs in the Regional final…Also chipped in with a double and a run-scoring single during UF’s seven-run fifth inning en route to the 15-3 victory over the Ramblin’ Wreck…Chosen to the 2012 SEC All-Tournament Team after helping the Gators reach the semifinal round in Hoover, Ala…Turgeon tied for the team lead with a .429 (6-for-14) showing during Florida’s four outings, highlighted by two-RBI performances in the triumphs over Auburn (1-for-3 with a two-run double in the sixth) and No. 4 South Carolina (2-for-4 with a two-run single in the fifth)…Set a team season high with eight assists in playing flawless defense in the first meeting with Vanderbilt...Connected on a two-run triple in the finale at Auburn…Named as the SEC Freshman of the Week on May 7 after helping the Gators to an important road series win over third-ranked Kentucky…During the weekend set with the Wildcats, he hit .400 (4-for-10) as the Gators took the first two games…In the series-clinching victory, with the game knotted at a run apiece, the rookie led off the eighth inning with his second triple of the campaign and scored the winning run on a one-out single by classmate Josh Tobias...Matched his career high with three hits (3-for-4) and also added a theft as part of a double steal…In the nationally-televised opener on ESPNU, he was 1-for-2 with a walk and sacrifice bunt…Doubled to right center field in the sixth inning of the opener against Arkansas to tie the game in an eventual 3-2 win…Had a career-high three stolen base and went 3-for-4 with two runs against Bethune-Cookman on April 25...Managed a career-high seven at bats in the 16-inning tilt with Georgia…Had three-consecutive singles at No. 1 Florida State in helping the Orange and Blue to a 6-3 triumph…Set a personal best with three runs and walked twice in the 7-0 shutout of No. 7 LSU…Came through with a 3-for-5 effort in the win at No. 16 Ole Miss…Moved the Gators in front of FSU in Jacksonville with a two-run triple to center field in the sixth inning of a 4-1 victory…Went 2-for-4 with a double in the rubber game of the set at No. 6 South Carolina…Drew two walks apiece in the final two games at No. 8 Miami (Fla.)…His first career homer was a two-run dinger as part of a three-run sixth inning in game two versus William & Mary…Went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the blanking of No. 19 UCF…Had at least one hit in all three games against No. 16 Cal State Fullerton…Delivered a run-scoring double down the left-field line in the season opener that scored Tyler Thompson.
SUMMER: Played for the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod League last summer with Gator teammate Johnny Magliozzi…Batted .261 with 18 runs and 16 RBI in 29 games…Totaled five doubles, belted three homers and drew 10 walks.
HIGH SCHOOL: Infielder from Dunedin High School who played for head coach Tom Hilbert and was a four-year starter…Selected in the 22nd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets with the 692nd choice…Graduated as Dunedin’s all-time leader in runs (157), walks (133), hits (132), times on base (293) and innings played (745)…Was an all-state pick in Class 4A as a senior and was named to the Florida All-Region First Team after hitting .400 and drawing 40 walks…Ranked No. 29 in the state of Florida and rated No. 187 in the Class of 2011 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Earned all-county and all-conference honors all four years of high school…Played in the Pinellas-Hillsborough All-Star Game held at Tropicana Field last spring…Was named the 2009 Pinellas County Player of the Year when he was a sophomore after batting .432 and leading the county with six homers…Was part of Dunedin’s Class 5A state championship team in 2008.
