AS A JUNIOR (2014): Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the second year in a row…Ranked second on the Gators with 28 appearances and was the runner-up on the club with four saves…Was 5-4 with a 3.47 earned run average, made five starts and was part of five of the squad’s seven shutouts…Over 57 innings, the lefty totaled 46 strikeouts and gave up 10 walks…Went 1-1 with a 4.85 ERA and collected three saves in 16 SEC outings…Started UF’s second game of the NCAA Gainesville Regional against North Carolina and took the loss after yielding five hits and two runs (one earned) in two innings…Delivered five shutout innings to earn the win and eliminate No. 6 South Carolina from the SEC Tournament…Registered three strikeouts over three innings as the Gators clinched the outright SEC title with a 6-5 victory at Tennessee…Preserved the 1-0 shutout of No. 10 Vanderbilt by setting down all five batters he faced with three strikeouts…Fired four scoreless frames as the Orange and Blue completed a weekend sweep of Missouri with a 6-5 win in 10 innings…Notched a career-high seven strikeouts over four innings to pick up the save in the series opener with Georgia…Closed the doubleheader sweep of No. 4 LSU at McKethan Stadium with a strikeout and two Tigers aboard for the save…Put together three innings of perfect baseball in the 3-1 win over No. 1 Florida State in Gainesville to earn his first career save…Struck out four Arkansas hitters over 3.2 innings as UF clinched the series over the Hogs with a 1-0 victory…Appeared in all three extra-inning victories over UConn and recorded the final two wins…Was Florida’s Friday night starter during the first three weekends of the campaign and faced Maryland, No. 17 Miami (FL) and Illinois…Captured the decision in the season opener with 5.1 innings of shutout ball and five strikeouts versus the Terps.

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2013): Earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll…Was 3-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 14 appearances, seven of which were starts…Registered 16 strikeouts and permitted seven walks in 37 innings, while holding opponents to a .214 average…Had a team-low 2.67 ERA in games that he started…Had a 1-3 record and a 5.00 ERA in nine SEC games, with three starts (Tennessee, LSU, Georgia)…Gave up two hits and zero earned runs over 5.1 innings in his final action of the campaign at Georgia and totaled three strikeouts…Worked a career-high six innings and limited Florida Atlantic to one hit and one run to earn the victory over the Owls…Started game two at No. 3 LSU and was on the hook for the loss after his 4.1-inning stint (4 H, 3 R)…Pitched 5.1 innings in the finale with Tennessee, yielding four hits and three runs…Picked up the win in the 15-inning marathon against Missouri…Tied his career best with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings at Florida Gulf Coast, an outing in which he surrendered one run…Recorded a pair of outs in the series-clinching victory over No. 8 South Carolina…Tossed four innings of one-run ball in his first start of the season at No. 7 Florida State in which he notched three strikeouts without allowing any walks.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2012): One of the five Gator baseball players named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll…Ranked fifth on the squad with 21 appearances and was 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA …Also made a pair of starts during his 22.2 innings of work…Boasted a 4:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio after 16 K and 4 BB…Did not allow any runs in six SEC appearances spanning 3.2 innings…Retired the lone South Carolina batter he faced during UF’s opener at the NCAA College World Series…Made two scoreless appearances in the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional versus NC State…Set down all five hitters at Samford on May 15…Appeared twice in the series at Ole Miss without giving up any runs…Totaled a career-best four strikeouts in 2.2 innings during the win over No. 6 Florida State at McKethan Stadium…Did not permit any earned runs to Florida Atlantic in his starting debut on March 6, with three strikeouts and three hits allowed in four innings…Part of the combined shutout of No. 19 UCF Picked up the victory while working on a pre-determined pitch count…Threw 1.2 scoreless innings against No. 16 Cal State Fullerton in his collegiate debut on Feb. 19.

 

SUMMER: Pitched for the Orleans (Mass.) Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2013 and was chosen to the CCBL All-League Team…Made seven appearances, all starts, and was 2-3 with a 1.71 ERA in 36.2 innings during the regular season…Struck out 24 batters and issued five walks…Started a pair of playoff games for the Firebirds and was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 12 innings, with 8 K and 2 BB…Received a no-decision in the opener of the championship series after scattering seven hits and two runs over five innings versus Cotuit, which went on to claim the title…Poyner had kept the Firebirds alive in the opening round with seven innings of one-run ball against Harwich…Played for the Madison (Wis.) Mallards of the Northwood League in 2012, along with Gator teammates Daniel Gibson and Taylor Gushue...Sported a 4-0 record with a 1.15 ERA in eight games, making six starts…Had 33 strikeouts and issued four walks in 39 innings, while holding opponents to a .196 batting average…Had five K and zero walks over six innings in his final outing, a 7-4 win over Lakeshore…Fired seven shutout frames, surrendering one hit, in a 16-4 triumph against Green Bay…Had a season-high nine strikeouts in six innings of work versus Battle Creek.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Left-hander from Palm Beach Central High School who played for head coach Scott Benedict…Earned all-area recognition during his final three seasons and was a two-time all-county selection…Helped the Broncos to back-to-back district championships in 2009 and 2010…Went 6-1 in his final prep season with a 1.91 ERA and had 51 strikeouts in 41.1 innings, with just six walks…Chipped in with a .404 batting average…Tossed a one-hitter, registered nine strikeouts and issued one walk to defeat No. 4 Jupiter in late March…Named to Rawlings’ Preseason Florida All-Region Second Team…Was chosen as the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2011 after being honored as the squad’s Best Pitcher in 2010…As a junior, he boasted a 9-3 record with a 1.86 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 64 innings and had a .310 batting average and 16 RBI…Member of the National Honor Society at Palm Beach Central.
