AS A FRESHMAN (2012): Lone Gator selected to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team, marking the third year in a row that a UF third baseman had made the squad, following Austin Maddox (2010) and Zack Powers (2011)…Received the Steve Georgiadis Award, presented to the Gator baseball player who has most overcome adversity…The Georgiadis Award is given in memory of former Gator pitcher Steve Georgiadis, who passed away on March 17, 1990...After suffering a hand injury at South Carolina on March 22, Tobias did not return to action at third base until over a month later against Bethune-Cookman…Started 44 of the 51 games that he played at third base…Hit .252 with 26 runs, 10 RBI and seven extra-base hits (five doubles, two triples)…Had six sacrifice hits and was 3-for-5 on the basepaths…Batted .261 in 19 SEC games, including 16 starts, with six runs and four RBI…Roped a pair of singles and scored in the NCAA College World Series meeting with No. 4 South Carolina…Was 3-for-9 (.333) and scored twice during the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional…Provided what proved to be the winning margin with a two-out RBI single in the 10th inning of game two against No. 11 NC State…Blasted a two-run double in the NCAA Gainesville Regional final triumph over No. 24 Georgia Tech…Went 2-for-4 with an RBI single as the Gators eliminated South Carolina from the SEC Tournament…Batted .364 (4-for-11) with two runs and two RBI during the series at Auburn…Had two hits in the 11-inning victory over North Florida…Singled in the eighth inning of game two at No. 3 Kentucky and also singled and scored in the first matchup between the Gators and Wildcats…Suffered a hand injury at South Carolina on March 23 and did not return to action at third base until April 25…Was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the second inning of the win over Samford and scored on a wild pitch…Singled and scored in his SEC debut versus Vanderbilt…Doubled, laid down a sacrifice bunt and was 2-for-3  in the victory over No. 6 Florida State at McKethan Stadium…Had a career-high two stolen bases and scored twice against Florida Gulf Coast on March 10…Tallied a career-best three runs in the win over Florida A&M…Notched his first career triple and was 2-for-4 with two runs against Florida Atlantic…Scored three runs during the series at No. 8 Miami (Fla.)…Started all three games on the hot corner to kick off the season with No. 16 Cal State Fullerton…Had an infield single for his first collegiate hit on opening night.

 

SUMMER: Played for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League last summer with Gator teammate Justin Shafer…The Red Sox advanced to the league’s Championship Series and were defeated by the Wareham Gatemen…Batted .250 in 18 games, with seven RBI, six runs and six walks…Had two doubles and a homer, to go along with one stolen base.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Infielder from Southeast Guilford High School who played for head coach David Beasley and earned all-conference recognition all four years of his career…Selected in the 31st round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals with the 937th choice…Rated No. 2 in the state of North Carolina and ranked No. 35 in the Class of 2011 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Was a first-team Preseason All-American by Rawlings and named to the Atlantic All-Region First Team…Helped lead Southeast Guilford to the 4-A West Regional Championship Series last season and picked up all-state honors…Chosen as the Metro Conference Player of the Year, Tobias batted .502 with 45 stolen bases, 11 doubles and nine homers…Participated in the 2010 AFLAC All-American High School Baseball Game in San Diego and was on the East squad with Gator classmates Johnny Magliozzi, Brandon Sedell and Sean Trent…Batted .370 as a junior, scored 42 runs, collected 30 stolen bases, drew 16 walks and had 14 extra-base hits (six doubles, five homers, three triples)…Member of the National Honor Society, French Club and was a student ambassador in high school.
