(2012): Was sidelined for the entire season while recovering from shoulder surgery and received a medical redshirt.
AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team…Played 35 games, with 21 starts at third base, and hit .250 with eight runs, seven RBI and four doubles…Was 8-for-24 (.333) in SEC action, with four runs and two RBI…Did not see any time in the postseason after undergoing successful knee surgery on April 22 and returning to action in the final week of the regular season on May 17 against Jacksonville…Played in games one and three of the Kentucky series and was 1-for-2 with two sacrifices… Injured his knee on a stolen-base attempt at second base in the first game at Georgia on April 15…Went 1-for-2 at Florida State…Had a solid weekend at the plate and in the field at Mississippi State, going 4-for-8 (.500) and preserving Sunday’s triumph with a leaping grab against the netting in foul territory with the bases full to end the game…Tied career high with two hits and was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run in game three…Scored as a pinch runner and later singled in the ninth in the second meeting with MSU…Was 1-for-4 with a walk in the opener… Started all three games at third base versus Tennessee and had two runs and an RBI…Started game three against South Carolina and was 1-for-3 with a two-out RBI single in the second inning…Started the series opener at LSU and was 1-for-2…Started game two against Rhode Island and had first career triple that plated two runs…Played in all wins over the Rams and was 1-for-5 (.200)…Delivered a pinch-hit two-run single with two down in the eighth at USF…Went 3-for-6 (.500) in the sweep of Miami (Fla.)…Had his first career multiple-hit effort in the finale, when he was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles…Opened the scoring on Sunday with his first career RBI, a second-inning double that plated Mike Zunino…Also doubled and laid down his first career sacrifice bunt on Saturday…Ripped first career double to begin the third and scored on Preston Tucker’s single in the win over Florida State…Made a tremendous defensive play at third base to begin FAU’s first at bat…Played in all three games in the season-opening series with USF and drew the start at third base in the opener…Went 1-for-3 (.333) with a run…Singled into center field in his first collegiate at bat.
SUMMER: Joined
Gator teammate Jonathan Crawford on the Madison (Wis.) Mallards of the
Northwoods League in 2011…Batted .273 over 26 games with 10 walks, nine runs
batted in and six doubles…Registered five strikeouts in two innings of relief.
HIGH SCHOOL: Infielder from Armwood High School who played for head coach Mike Wrenn…Selected in the 28th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 837th choice…Rated No. 43 in the state of Florida according to Prospectswire.com, No. 3 among third basemen…Ranked No. 28 in the state of Florida in the Class of 2010 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Was the Player of the Year in Hillsborough Country as well as the Suncoast Player of the Year during his final campaign…Named high honorable mention on Rawlings’ Preseason All-America Team…Hit a team-best .411 with 18 RBI, seven doubles, three homers and one triple…Turned in a 9-1 record on the mound, with a 1.51 earned run average and a .138 batting average against…Went a perfect 3-0 in the postseason with a 1.09 ERA with two complete games…Pitched Armwood into its first state title game in Class 5A by throwing a complete game in a 3-1 victory over Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas…Yielded four hits and retired 10 of the final 11 hitters he faced, with five of his seven strikeouts coming during that stretch…Claimed the Home Run Derby at the 2010 Saladino Tournament…Was a second-team all-state pick in Class 5A and a first-team Hillsborough County selection as a junior, when he hit .467 with 16 RBI, 10 doubles and six homers…Helped the Hawks to their first state tournament berth in school history.
