AS A FRESHMAN (2012): Appeared in 16 games out of the bullpen and sported a 2-0 record with a 3.38 earned run average in 16 innings…Totaled 12 strikeouts and issued four walks while holding opponents to a .203 average…Did not permit any runs in 14 of his 16 appearances…Pitched in five SEC games spanning 2.2 innings…Registered a career-best three K at Samford on May 15…Earned the victory over North Florida by pitching a scoreless 11th inning when Mike Zunino roped a game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the frame…Worked a career-high three innings at No. 1 Florida State on April 10, retiring all nine batters he faced to collect his first collegiate win…Debuted with two strikeouts in one inning of work during the shutout of No. 19 UCF.
SUMMER: Played for the Lakeshore (Wis.) Chinooks last summer and was rated No. 3 in Perfect Game’s Top Prospects for the Northwoods League…Made 14 appearances, with three starts, and was 1-3 with two saves a 1.48 ERA…Notched 49 strikeouts and allowed 10 walks in 42.2 innings…Totaled a season-high eight K in 5.2 innings his final outing of the summer…Twirled 8.1 innings of shutout ball and had six strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Battle Creek.
HIGH SCHOOL: Right-hander from Jupiter High School who played for head coach Doug Ferguson…Taken in the 37th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees with the 1,139th choice…Was a first-team Preseason All-American by Rawlings and named to the Florida All-Region First Team…Ranked No. 10 in the state of Florida and rated No. 60 in the Class of 2011 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Named first-team all-county, all-area and all-conference after going 7-3 with a 1.04 ERA, 75 strikeouts and four complete games…Also played first base and outfield and had a .349 batting average…Chosen as the Most Valuable Player for the North team at the Dick Howser High School Baseball All-Star Game…Threw two hitless innings as the starter and was 1-for-3 with an RBI single…Fired a one-hitter against Dwyer and belted a two-run homer to help his team to a 2-0 win…Went 4-for-4 with six RBI and a pair of homers, including a walk-off grand slam, in a contest during his sophomore year.
