AS A SOPHOMORE (2012): Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll…After pitching just 3.2 innings as a freshman, Crawford made 19 appearances and 14 starts in his second collegiate campaign…The righty had a 6-2 mark with a 3.13 earned run average and tied for second on the squad with 73 strikeouts in 77.2 innings…Started in nine of the Gators’ 10 SEC series and was 3-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 38.2 innings during league action…Appeared in three NCAA Tournament contests, including starts against No. 11 NC State in the Gainesville Super Regional and Bethune-Cookman in the Gainesville Regional, and came out of the bullpen for three innings versus No. 9 Kent State at the NCAA College World Series when starter Hudson Randall had to be lifted…Registered a 2.30 ERA and was 1-0 with 13 strikeouts and two walks in a team-high 15.2 innings in NCAA play…Totaled five strikeouts over 3.2 innings in game two of the Super Regional versus the Wolfpack and did not receive a decision…After a long weather delay, surrendered a leadoff double in the third inning to NCSU’s Brett Austin, ending a stretch of 14.2 hitless innings by Crawford dating back to a leadoff single by Auburn’s Bobby Andrews in the third inning at the SEC Tournament on May 22…In addition, the right-hander’s streak of consecutive batters retired was stopped at 25, two shy of the school record held by Brian Johnson…The last base-runner against Crawford had come on a walk by Bethune-Cookman’s Jake Welch in the third inning on June 1…In Florida’s NCAA opener against B-CU, Crawford became the first Gator hurler to register a complete-game no-hitter since John Burke accomplished the feat in a 2-0 shutout of Furman on May 23, 1991…UF’s last combined no-hitter had occurred on March 19, 1993, when the duo of Doug Brennan (7.0) and Chris Nelson (2.0) defeated Pace, 16-0…Crawford, whose previous career-high stint was six innings against LSU on April 6, went the distance on 98 pitches (70 of them strikes) and faced the minimum of 27 batters en route to the 4-0 shutout of the Wildcats…The righty retired the final 19 batters of the outing…Became just the seventh pitcher to throw a no-hitter in the NCAA Championship and was the first since Burke…Defeated Auburn in UF’s SEC Tournament opener in Hoover, establishing a career high with nine strikeouts over 5.2 innings, and claimed the series opener at Tennessee on April 13…The right-hander fired six scoreless frames to help the Gators even the series with seventh-ranked LSU and also collected victories over Vanderbilt (5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 6 K) and No. 19 UCF (5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 K)…Held the Knights hitless for 4.1 innings in his collegiate starting debut.
AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Made five appearances and was 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA in 3.2 innings…Notched two strikeouts in the 10-0 shutout of Winthrop on March 23…Pitched a scoreless seventh inning in the Gators’ 8-3 victory over Miami (Fla.)…Appeared in the 13-2 win against Florida Atlantic that was played in Jupiter, Fla., at Roger Dean Stadium…Registered a pair of strikeouts and gave up two hits in his collegiate debut, a 7-2 conquest of USF on opening night.
SUMMER: Member of the 2012 USA College National Team that finished 12-5 on its summer tour…Turned in a 3-0 record with a 2.10 ERA, highlighted by a pair of victories over powerhouse Cuba in Havana…Earned a bronze medal at the Haarlem Honkbal Week in the Netherlands…Started the semifinal contest against Cuba and carried a shutout into the eighth inning…The Cubans plated two runners in the 10th inning during the international tiebreaker to reach the championship round with a 5-3 win…Notched the decision in the final matchup of the five-game set in Havana…Threw 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, to pick up the win in game one of the first series between the two countries since 1996…Played for the Madison (Wis.) Mallards of the Northwoods League in the summer of 2011…Made 13 appearances, including eight starts, and was 2-2 with a 5.21 ERA…Totaled 51 strikeouts in 38 innings and limited opponents to a .221 batting average.
HIGH SCHOOL: Right-handed pitcher from Okeechobee High School who played for head coach Dylan Tedders…Selected in the 42nd round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the Florida Marlins with the 1,277th pick…Ranked No. 19 in the state of Florida and No. 137 overall in the Class of 2010 Final Rankings from Perfect Game Third-team 2010 Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason All-American…Registered a 1.06 ERA with 89 strikeouts in 52.2 innings as a senior and was the Brahmans’ Pitcher of the Year…Although he was 3-6 on the mound, five of his six losses were by one run…Was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Okeechobee.
