Major: Anthropology

 

AS A JUNIOR (2011): Selected by the New York Mets in the ninth round with the 282nd selection in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft... Over his three-year tenure, Panteliodis compiled a record of 23-10 and registered a 3.81 earned run average in 58 appearances and 38 starts…Is tied for seventh on the school’s all-time list for victories (23), is eighth in pickoffs (nine), is tied for ninth in games started (38) and is 10th in fewest walks issued per nine innings (1.91)...Is the Gators’ all-time leader with seven NCAA Tourney starts and is second with 35 K…In 18 appearances in ‘11, including 12 starts, he was 6-2 with a 3.71 ERA…The southpaw totaled 47 strikeouts and permitted just nine walks in 63 innings of work and limited opponents to a .249 batting average... In four postseason starts, Panteliodis was 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA and had 12 strikeouts and one walk in 22.1 innings…Started the second meeting with Vanderbilt at the NCAA College World Series on June 24 and surrendered three hits and one run over six innings…Although he was not involved in the decision, the Gators posted a 6-4 win to clinch a berth in the CWS Championship Finals…Permitted six hits and three runs in the Gainesville Super Regional versus Mississippi State…Chosen to the 2011 NCAA Gainesville Regional All-Tournament Team after taking a shutout into the seventh inning against Miami (Fla.) in the championship game, an 11-4 triumph that enabled the Gators to reach Super Regionals for the third-consecutive year…Also earned the victory over the Commodores in the SEC Tournament Final by tossing 5.1 scoreless frames in the 5-0 shutout that clinched Florida’s first SEC Tourney title since 1991…Delivered 1.1 scoreless innings of relief in the series-opening victory at No. 2 Vanderbilt…Earned the win with three shutout frames in the 4-1 decision over UNF…Had five strikeouts and kept Bethune-Cookman scoreless over 4.1 innings to pick up the win while working on a pitch count…Was on the short end at Florida State despite giving up one run on four hits over five innings…Blanked Winthrop over six innings in the Gators’ 10-0 win…Collected first victory of the campaign with a four-strikeout, one-run effort in five innings at USF…Struck out two Boston College batters in one inning of work in game two of the series…Closed the season-opening triumph over USF.

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010): Led Florida in an assortment of categories: innings pitched (100.0), strikeouts (82), victories (11) and lowest batting average against by a starting pitcher (.234)…Over 18 appearances, the left-hander was 11-3 with a 3.51 ERA…His total of 11 victories was the most by a Gator since Justin Hoyman went 11-2 in 2004…Was second on the squad behind Hudson Randall (17) with 16 starts…Went 4-2 with a 3.92 ERA in 10 SEC starts…Five-game winning streak ended with the setback to UCLA at the NCAA College World Series…Named to the Primetime Performer Weekly Honor Roll produced by CollegeBaseball360.com for the third time during the season after his outstanding effort against Miami (Fla.) in the opener of the best-of-three NCAA Gainesville Super Regional…Panteliodis went the distance for his first career complete game and established a personal best with 12 strikeouts as the Gators posted a 7-2 triumph…The southpaw retired the final 14 Hurricane hitters of the contest and yielded three hits to register UF’s first complete game since Stephen Locke accomplished the feat against Alabama on May 10, 2008…His effort was the first complete game by a Gator pitcher in the NCAA Tournament since Tommy Boss twirled nine innings in an 8-1 triumph over Florida State in Game 1 of the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional on June 10, 2005…Picked up the win against Oregon State during the Gainesville Regional with eight K over five innings…Kept the Gators alive at the SEC Tournament by working 6.2 innings versus Arkansas, a start in which he permitted four hits and three runs with five strikeouts…Helped Florida secure its first series triumph at Alabama since 2004 with a six-inning stint…Tossed five shutout innings in the series opener with LSU before the game was suspended…Worked a then-career-high eight innings as the Gators edged Tennessee, 4-2…Gave up six hits and a couple of runs and had two K…Limited Vanderbilt to one run on seven hits over 6.1 innings in the series opener but did not factor in the decision…Registered six strikeouts and two walks and UF used a two-run homer in the seventh by Matt den Dekker to notch the 3-2 win…Was the tough-luck loser in the first game at Ole Miss, despite 7.1 innings in which he totaled eight strikeouts and surrendered three runs…Raised his mark to 5-0 against Mississippi State by earning the decision in the Gators’ SEC opener (7.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R)…Threw seven scoreless innings in the 6-0 blanking of Charleston Southern on March 12…Making his initial start of the season, Panteliodis gave up two hits over 5.2 innings at Miami (Fla.) on March 5 and was supported by an offense that plated four runs in the third and three in the eighth…Collected two relief wins during the season-opening series against USF.   

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2009): Named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll…Appeared in 22 games and tied classmate Anthony DeSclafani for the team lead in victories with a 6-5 record…His 10 starts ranked fourth on the squad behind Stephen Locke (12) and the duo of DeSclafani and Nick Maronde, who had 11 apiece…Tallied 43 strikeouts and yielded 16 walks in 63.2 innings…Rated second in the SEC with six pickoffs, one behind Vanderbilt’s Mike Minor…Played in 11 SEC games, with four starts, and was 2-3 with a 4.76 ERA in 28.1 innings…Started the NCAA Gainesville Regional final against Miami (Fla.) and matched his career best of six strikeouts over 4.2 innings…Earned the relief win in the regular-season finale versus Kentucky with 1.1 scoreless innings…Used a six-strikeout effort to defeat Jacksonville…Finished off the sweep of South Carolina by giving up one earned run over 5.1 innings during the 9-5 victory…Notched his first career save with 2.2 scoreless innings during the rubber game at Auburn on Easter Sunday…Was chosen as the SEC Freshman of the Week on March 23 after two scoreless appearances spanning 8.1 innings against Tennessee and No. 17 Florida State in which he registered seven strikeouts and issued one walk…In the finale versus the Vols, he made his first relief appearance and tossed four scoreless innings as the Gators overcame a pair of three-run deficits to notch a 7-5 victory…The win enabled Florida to collect its first sweep of UT since March 28-30, 2003…The southpaw held the Seminoles scoreless over 4.1 innings on St. Patrick’s Day in his fifth career start, the longest a Florida pitcher had gone into a game without allowing an earned run against FSU since March 30, 2005…His five strikeouts matched his season total entering the game and the Gators used a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth from Buddy Munroe to post a 5-4 victory…Captured his collegiate debut by working six innings and allowing two runs to No. 8 Louisville as Florida clinched the weekend series…Became the first freshman southpaw to start for the Orange and Blue since Tony Davis took the mound against South Carolina in an elimination game of the 2007 SEC Tournament.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Left-handed pitcher from Alonso High School who was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Landy Faedo…Finished 9-2 in his senior season and extended his school-record run to 20-consecutive decisions dating back to his freshman year before it was halted…Sported a 2.37 ERA and hit .382 with 16 RBI, six doubles and four homers…Achieved first-team all-state in Class 6A and was the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s District 13 Player of the Year, as well as the Tampa Tribune’s Baseball Athlete of the Year…Earned the Tony Saladino Memorial Award, given to top player in Hillsborough County…Was the St. Petersburg Times Hillsborough County Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row and a first-team selection on the Times’ All-Suncoast Team…Received the 2008 Wade Boggs Athletic Achievement Award given by the county commission for not only athletics, but academic accomplishments and community service…Ranked No. 255 in the Class of 2008 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Participated in the Second Annual Rays High School Baseball Classic at Tropicana Field…Enjoyed a breakout junior season, sporting an 11-0 record and a 0.54 ERA…Named a first-team All-Hillsborough County selection by the Tampa Tribune and was a FSWA Class 6A second-team all-state choice…Honored as the St. Petersburg Times Pitcher of the Year…Over 65.1 innings pitched, including five complete games and a pair of shutouts, the lefty struck out 93 batters, issued only eight walks and yielded one home run…Fired a five-inning perfect game against Mitchell, the first perfecto in school history…Panteliodis batted .389, with 23 runs batted in, six doubles and three homers, with a .547 slugging percentage and a .443 on-base percentage…Was a member of the 2006 USA Junior National Team that went 9-0 and claimed the gold meal at the Pan Am Championships in Barquisimeto, Venezuela…Played for the Midland Redskins, an elite Ohio travel team, and was the winning pitcher in their quarterfinal game at the Connie Mack World Series…The Redskins wound up claiming the championship of the event.
