AS A JUNIOR (2011): Taken in the sixth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 199th pick…In 28 appearances and 43.2 innings, he was 5-3 with a 4.33 earned run average…Struck out 39 batters and issued six walks…Totaled three saves, was part of three shutouts and made starts against Florida State (March 29 in Jacksonville) and Florida Atlantic (Feb. 22 in Jupiter)…Had a 2-1 record with one save and a 6.23 ERA in eight SEC outings that spanned 8.2 innings…Struck out the only batter he faced in game two of the CWS Championship Finals…Pitched a career-high 7.2 innings out of the bullpen against Georgia in the SEC Tournament, allowing two runs on seven hits, with four strikeouts…Completed the Gators’ 6-0 shutout of Alabama in Hoover by recording the final two outs…Notched the win in the opener at No. 2 Vanderbilt…Fired 2.2 scoreless and hitless innings and earned the decision in the second matchup with Tennessee…Drew the start against Florida State at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and yielded two runs on a pair of hits over three innings…Saved game one at No. 5 LSU…Kept Florida State off the scoreboard in both the ninth and 10th innings as the Gators pulled out a 5-4 triumph at McKethan Stadium…Recorded the final three outs after entering the ballgame with a pair of runners aboard and none out against Miami (Fla.) to complete UF’s first-ever sweep of the Hurricanes in Gainesville on March 6…Had been the winning pitcher the previous afternoon versus UM by setting down all six hitters he encountered in the 1-0 triumph…Totaled three strikeouts over 1.2 innings in Tampa against Florida State…Tossed four scoreless innings, giving up three hits and registering three K while working on a pitch count, to pick up the win over Florida Atlantic…Retired all three USF batters on opening night, a 7-2 Gator victory.

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010): Turned in a 2-3 mark with a 7.08 ERA…In 19 appearances, including six starts, spanning 40.2 innings, the righty had 29 strikeouts and issued eight walks…Gave up one run in three frames during the finale at South Carolina…Threw a scoreless inning at USF on April 21…Notched four strikeouts over 2.2 scoreless innings at Florida State…Kept Jacksonville off the board for two innings on April 6…Collected the victory against Army by working a season-high 5.2 innings in which he scattered six hits, had three K and permitted two runs…Registered a season-high six punchouts and earned his first win of the campaign against Illinois State…Tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in his season debut against USF on Feb. 21, with four strikeouts, but was not involved in the decision.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2009): Appeared in 21 games, including 11 starts, and was 6-3 with a 4.98 ERA…Over 65 innings, the righty struck out 47 batters and permitted 16 walks...Matched classmate Alex Panteliodis for the team lead in victories…DeSclafani’s 11 starts were second on the squad with fellow freshman Nick Maronde behind Stephen Locke (12)…Was 3-3 with a 5.77 ERA in 12 SEC appearances, making five starts…Drew the nod in the Gators’ NCAA Tournament opener against Bethune-Cookman but was not involved in the decision…Kept Florida alive at the SEC Tournament by defeating No. 7 Ole Miss…Scattered five hits and two runs to the Rebels over 5.2 innings to rebound from back-to-back setbacks to Kentucky and No. 3 LSU…Earned a victory in game two at No. 6 Georgia in which he went 5.2 innings (5 H, 5 R, 4 K)…Pitched four scoreless innings out of the bullpen during the series with Ole Miss…Worked a career-high 6.1 innings in his SEC starting debut to lift the Gators to a 5-1 triumph over Auburn on Easter Sunday…DeSclafani allowed four hits and registered six strikeouts, while limiting the Tigers to one run…The victory in the rubber game of the series halted a six-series losing skid in league action on the road for Florida…Hurled 2.1 innings of one-hit ball to pick up the home win over UCF…Collected his initial SEC victory in the 10-7 triumph over Alabama that completed a weekend sweep of the Crimson Tide…Tallied five K over 4.1 innings…Threw five scoreless frames against UNF on March 24 but was not involved in the decision…Earned his first collegiate victory at UCF on March 18, when held the Knights to an unearned run over five innings…Struck out a career-high seven batters in his second start versus Florida Atlantic (5.1 IP, 3 R, 1 H)…Debuted against No. 8 Louisville on Feb. 21 by keeping the visitors off the board in the ninth stanza.

 

SUMMER: Played for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod League in 2010, a team which claimed the Eastern Division and had the best record…In nine appearances during the regular season, he was 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA…Over 17 innings, DeSclafani totaled 18 strikeouts, allowed eight walks and permitted four earned runs…Participated in a team-high four games out of the bullpen in the playoffs, working 5.2 innings with five K.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Right-handed pitcher from Colts Neck High School who played for head coach Mike Yorke…Was selected by the 2004 and 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox in the 22nd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft with the 682nd choice…Completed his prep career as the school's record holder in strikeouts (303), wins (25) and lowest ERA (1.45)…Turned in a 7-1 mark as a senior, with 81 strikeouts and just seven walks in 58.1 innings en route to second-team All-America status…Also collected a pair of saves and had a 1.44 ERA…Batted .390 with 20 runs, 20 RBI, nine doubles and three homers…Was a two-time DigitalSports first-team All-Shore Conference pick and the Cougars won two-straight Class A North public titles…Ranked No. 1 at the Sunshine Northeast Showcase held in Fishkill, N.Y., in June 2007…Listed as No. 75 on Baseball America's Top 100 High School Prospects and No. 126 in the Class of 2008 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…During his junior season, DeSclafani helped the Cougars to a single-season school-record 22 wins…Colts Neck won its first Shore Conference Tournament title in school history and also captured the Class A North public title, their first division title in school history…Finished 8-2 with a 1.73 ERA and notched 84 strikeouts in 60.2 innings…Fired a complete-game five-hitter in an 8-2 win over Christian Brothers Academy that gave the Cougars their first Shore Conference Tournament title and twirled a two-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over top-seeded Toms River North in the SCT quarterfinals…DeSclafani went 5-2 with two saves and a 1.01 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 48.1 innings as a sophomore.
