AS A SENIOR (2010): Tied for second on the Gators with 25 appearances and was 4-0 with a 3.38 earned run average and collected a pair of saves…Held opponents to a .221 clip…Notched 24 strikeouts and issued just two walks over 37.1 innings…Worked two innings against UCLA in the NCAA College World Series, giving up one run and four hits…Threw 1.1 scoreless frames in game two of the Super Regional versus Miami (Fla.)…Kept Bethune-Cookman off the board for 1.2 innings to begin the NCAA Tourney…Collected the series-opening victory at South Carolina with 2.2 innings in which he gave up two hits and one run and tallied a season-best four strikeouts…Earned the win against Florida Atlantic by working a season-high four innings and allowing the Owls zero runs…Picked up the win in the series openers against both Kentucky and Vanderbilt…Yielded three hits and an unearned run in two innings against Florida State on March 30 in his lone start of the campaign…Held Ole Miss in check over 1.2 innings in the series finale in Oxford…Collected saves in back-to-back appearances against Charleston Southern (2.0, 2 K, 1 H, 0 R) and Army (3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 K)…Notched a pair of strikeouts in game two at Miami (Fla.).

 

AS A JUNIOR (2009): Appeared in 16 games in his first season as a Gator, with seven starts, and was 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA and one save…Registered 40 strikeouts in 46 innings and permitted 15 walks…Limited foes to a .258 batting average…Started five of his eight SEC appearances and was 0-1 with a 4.94 ERA…Had 26 K and nine walks against league opponents…Pitched two-thirds of an inning against Arkansas at the SEC Tournament, giving up a hit and a walk…Retired the first 10 batters of the game in the first meeting with Auburn…Allowed a homer and had four strikeouts over four innings…The Gators held a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning when the contest was suspended due to tornado warnings and heavy rains and Barfield did not take the hill when the game resumed the next afternoon…Worked 5.2 innings in the opener at Vanderbilt, surrendering four hits and three runs, but was not involved in the decision as the Gators posted an 8-4 win…Had a career-high nine strikeouts and matched his season-best of 6.2 innings during the first matchup with Tennessee…UF rallied from a 2-1 deficit on Matt den Dekker’s two-run homer in the eighth to down the Vols…Pitched well out of the bullpen in the second game at Arkansas, holding the Hogs to one earned run and four hits over 5.2 innings…Collected his first career save with a pair of strikeouts in the 5-3 win over Duquesne on March 7…Fired 6.2 innings in his starting debut at Stetson on March 3…Scattered five hits, tallied four strikeouts and yielded an unearned run during the 5-2 triumph over the Hatters…Tossed scoreless frames against Miami (Fla.) and Eastern Michigan…Picked up his first win at Florida in the series finale against Louisville with a 1.1-inning stint in which he kept the Cardinals off the board…Mike Mooney delivered a walk-off single to give the Orange and Blue a sweep to kick off the campaign.  

 

AT LAKE CITY C.C. (2008): Played at Lake City Community College for head coach Tom Clark in 2008…Earned second-team All-Mid-Florida Conference and was named Pitcher of the Week that April…The Timberwolves finished 32-22 overall and were ranked eighth in the final poll of the regular season…Barfield ranked fourth in the Florida Community College Activities Association/National Junior College Athletic Association (FCCAA/NJCAA) Region VIII with 102 strikeouts and was 10th with a 2.68 ERA…In 21 appearances spanning 80.2 innings, the right-hander was 5-3 and issued 30 walks.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner at The Westfield School for head coach Billy Sellers…Was a three-time all-region recipient.
