AS A JUNIOR (2011): Made his third appearance on the SEC Academic Honor Roll…Participated in five games and was 0-0 with a 3.52 earned run average in 7.2 innings…Had three strikeouts and two walks…Pitched a season-high 3.1 innings in the second meeting with Kentucky, allowing four hits and two runs...Tossed a scoreless frame in game two at No. 2 Vanderbilt…Completed the sweep of Ole Miss by retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth…Worked 1.1 innings against Winthrop (2 H, 2 R)…Debuted in his final season by holding Rhode Island scoreless and recording the final three outs in the Gators’ 11-5 win on March 11.

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010): Chosen by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft with the 1,254th overall pick in the 41st round…Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the second time…Appeared in 14 games and was 1-0 with a 7.20 ERA…In 20 innings, the righty totaled 16 strikeouts and issued 10 walks…Set a career high with four strikeouts over two scoreless innings against Jacksonville…Retired both Ole Miss batters he faced in the series opener on March 26…Picked up the win over Charleston Southern on March 13 with 2.1 innings in relief…Tossed a scoreless frame apiece in consecutive outings against Siena, Miami (Fla.) and Illinois State…Gave up two hits over 2.2 innings without allowing any runs in the second game versus USF.

 

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2009): Chosen to the SEC Academic Honor Roll…Had a 2-1 record with a 5.73 ERA in 15 games…Drew starts against Eastern Michigan (Feb. 24), UCF (April 8) and Florida Gulf Coast (May 6)…Pitched a total of 33 innings, with 18 strikeouts and 13 walks…Appeared in five SEC outings and was 0-0 with a 4.00 ERA in nine innings…Tossed a scoreless ninth against Southern Miss in the NCAA Super Regional opener…Came out of the bullpen and kept Kentucky off the board for three innings during the regular-season finale…Equaled season high of three strikeouts in the first meeting with No. 3 LSU, a dominant performance in which he set down all six Tiger hitters he faced…Notched a pair of punchouts in his lone inning of work against Stetson on April 15…Credited with the home win over UNF in which he pitched a career-high 4.2 innings, with three K and zero runs…Claimed his collegiate debut with four shutout innings against Eastern Michigan in which he permitted a pair of singles.

 

(2008): Named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll…Was sidelined for the entire campaign and earned a medical redshirt.

 

SUMMER: Pitched for the Forest City Owls in the Coastal Plains League in 2010…Sported a perfect 4-0 record with a 3.00 ERA in five appearances, including three starts…Notched 15 strikeouts and permitted three walks in 21 innings…Helped the Bourne Braves to their first-ever Cape Cod League title in 2009…Appeared in 16 regular-season games out of the bullpen as the Braves claimed the Western Division crown…During the regular season, he totaled an ERA of 3.00, with 22 strikeouts and eight walks in 21 innings…Also notched one save…In his lone postseason appearance, Poovey threw two scoreless innings in which he registered four strikeouts against Orleans…Bourne swept both playoff rounds to win the championship.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Jeff Parham at South Caldwell High School, which captured the 2007 North Carolina state championship…Ranked as the No. 93 prospect in the nation by Baseball America and the No. 4 prospect in North Carolina by Perfect Game in the fall of 2006…Was an all-state pick as a junior, when the Spartans were the runner-up in Class 4A…Member of the Beta and Interact clubs in high school.
