AS A JUNIOR (2011): The highest Gator draft pick this year, Maronde was chosen in the third round by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim with the 104th choice…Over 79 career appearances, including 12 starts, the lefty was 5-2 with a 3.99 earned run average and four saves and had 151 strikeouts in 130.2 innings…Florida’s leader with 36 appearances who tied for second in the SEC, the southpaw was 0-1 and registered a 2.09 ERA in ’11...Over 43 innings, he totaled 55 strikeouts, issued nine walks, collected a pair of saves and was part of five shutouts…In addition, he limited opponents to a team-low .178 average, including a .086 performance with runners on base…Was 0-0 with a meager 0.61 ERA in 13 SEC appearances, permitted one earned run in 14.2 innings while having a 20:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio…Called upon six times in NCAA Tourney play and was 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA in 6.1 innings…On the hook for the loss to South Carolina in game one of the CWS Championship Finals…Threw two perfect innings in the Gators’ 8-4 victory over Texas in the opening round and picked up a save…Held Miami (Fla.) scoreless for 1.1 innings as UF pulled out a 5-4 thriller…Came through with two scoreless and hitless frames in the SEC Tourney Final against Vanderbilt…Worked three innings and had three strikeouts in the opening round against Mississippi State at Regions Park…Had a run of 12-consecutive scoreless appearances between April 10-May 25…Delivered an outstanding effort with 3.1 innings of shutout ball and three punchouts in the 12-inning marathon at No. 2 Vanderbilt…Struck out the side versus UNF…Made a pair of scoreless appearances in the sweep of Ole Miss…Had a season-high six K over 2.1 innings in the series opener at Mississippi State…Preserved the Gators’ 1-0 shutout of fifth-ranked LSU by striking out four batters in 1.2 IP…Registered five strikeouts over 2.2 innings in his lone start of the campaign against Georgia Southern…Had a pair of strikeouts and set down all four Florida State hitters he faced in Tampa.

AS A FRESHMAN (2009): Over 21 appearances, including 11 starts, Maronde was 3-1 with a 4.40 ERA in 61.1 innings…Led the Gators with 59 strikeouts and matched Anthony DeSclafani for the second-most starts behind Stephen Locke (12)…Opponents batted just .255 against him, while left-handed hitters were 17-for-75 (.227)…Participated in 12 SEC games, with six starts, and was 1-0 with a 5.60 ERA in 35.1 innings…Was second to Locke in both innings pitched (47.1) and league games started (seven)…Drew the starting nod in game two of the NCAA Super Regional against Southern Miss (3.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 K)…Had three strikeouts in a total of 1.2 scoreless innings during the NCAA Gainesville Regional versus Miami (Fla.)…Started UF’s second meeting with Arkansas at the SEC Tournament and went 2.1 innings with three K…Totaled a season-high eight strikeouts over five strong innings to upend No. 3 LSU at Alex Box Stadium…The win kept the Gators within a game of first place entering the final conference series…Worked all three games out of the bullpen in the sweep of No. 6 Georgia…Fanned three South Carolina batters in two innings during the series finale as UF downed the Gamecocks…Earned the extra-inning win over USF on April 22…Logged a career-high 3.2 innings in relief during game one at Auburn, notching five K…First SEC action was a no-decision in the third game at Arkansas, when he permitted two hits and two runs and had five strikeouts over five innings…Earned his first win by going six innings in which he collected three strikeouts and did not allow any earned runs in a 5-3 triumph over Duquesne…Worked 6.1 innings in his collegiate debut against No. 8 Louisville, giving up five hits and two runs (zero earned)…The Gators plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

 

SUMMER: Spent the summer of 2010 playing for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod League…Over 10 appearances during the regular season, Maronde was 2-0 with a 2.29 ERA in 19.2 innings…The lefty tallied 27 strikeouts and yielded just five walks…Worked four innings out of the bullpen against eventual champion Cotuit in the playoffs.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Left-handed pitcher from Lexington Catholic High School who was selected in the 43rd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft by the Oakland Athletics with the 1,294th pick…Ranked No. 19 on Baseball America’s list of 2008 Top 100 High School Prospects, was No. 26 on Rivals.com High 100, checked in at No. 28 on RISE Magazine’s Top 75 High School Baseball Players and ranked No. 43 in the Class of 2008 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Was a first-team all-state selection for head coach Rodney Martin and was the Co-Pitcher of the Year on the Lexington Herald-Leader All-City Team…Turned in an 8-1 mark with a 0.54 ERA and struck out 129 batters in 77 innings while issuing 21 walks…Member of the 2007 USA Junior National Team…Helped Lexington Catholic to the Kentucky state championship in 2006 with a spotless 14-0 mark…Over his prep career, Maronde compiled a 38-3 record with a career earned run average under one and exceeded the century mark in strikeouts his final three seasons…A 2007 Louisville Slugger High School American, he also picked up first-team all-state, all-region, all-district and all-city accolades…Turned in a 2-0 mark and a 0.00 ERA at the COPABE “AAA” Pan American Junior Championships in the summer of ‘07…Collected the victory over Canada in the bronze-medal game of the 11-country event…Tossed a no-hitter as a sophomore.
