HIGH SCHOOL: Right-handed pitcher from Colts Neck High School who played for head coach Mike Yorke…Was selected by the 2004 and 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox in the 22nd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft with the 682nd choice…Completed his prep career as the school's record holder in strikeouts (303), wins (25) and lowest ERA (1.45)…Turned in a 7-1 mark as a senior, with 81 strikeouts and just seven walks in 58.1 innings en route to second-team All-America status…Also collected a pair of saves and had a 1.44 ERA…Batted .390 with 20 runs, 20 RBI, nine doubles and three homers…Was a two-time DigitalSports first-team All-Shore Conference pick and the Cougars won two-straight Class A North public titles…Ranked No. 1 at the Sunshine Northeast Showcase held in Fishkill, N.Y., in June 2007…Listed as No. 75 on Baseball America's Top 100 High School Prospects and No. 126 in the Class of 2008 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…During his junior season, DeSclafani helped the Cougars to a single-season school-record 22 wins…Colts Neck won its first Shore Conference Tournament title in school history and also captured the Class A North public title, their first division title in school history…Finished 8-2 with a 1.73 ERA and notched 84 strikeouts in 60.2 innings…Fired a complete-game five-hitter in an 8-2 win over Christian Brothers Academy that gave the Cougars their first Shore Conference Tournament title and twirled a two-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over top-seeded Toms River North in the SCT quarterfinals…DeSclafani went 5-2 with two saves and a 1.01 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 48.1 innings as a sophomore.
