AS A FRESHMAN (2008): Named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll…Joined the Gators in the spring after playing in all 36 games for head coach Billy Donovan's basketball squad, which advanced to the semifinals of the NIT Tournament…A forward, Allen averaged 10.4 minutes, 4.0 points and 0.8 rebounds per game...Made two appearances on the mound, against Bethune-Cookman (May 7) and USF (May 13)…Allowed two hits, three runs and three walks in 1.1 innings…Also had a balk, wild pitch and hit a batter.
HIGH SCHOOL: Left Milton High School as the school's all-time leader in points (2,317), rebounds (1,200) and blocked shots (321)…The Pensacola News-Journal Player of the Year for 2005-06 and 2006-07…The runner-up for Mr. Basketball in the state of Florida in 2006-07 and the 4A State Player of the Year…He was the Milton High School Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2006-07…Earned first-team all-area from his sophomore year on…Helped Milton High School to a 54-10 record of the last two years, going 27-6, winning the Region 1-4A Championship in 2005-06, reaching the state Final Four and finishing as the Class 4A state runner-up…Milton went 27-4 in 2006-07, reaching the Regional title game for the second-straight year…Allen averaged 20.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 2.8 blocks as a junior…He solidified his reputation as one of the top players in the state in 2006-07, averaging a career-best 24.7 points, 12.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 3.5 blocks per contest…Was a McDonald’s All-American nominee in 2007…Was the MVP of the Glenn Academy (Ga.) PERSONAL: Born Feb. 21, 1989…The oldest of four children, he is the son of Randy and Kelly Allen…His father Randy played basketball at Florida State and was a professional player for the Sacramento Kings and overseas for seven years…Two brothers, Brandon (15) and Drew (6) and a sister, Sydney (11)…Played high school basketball for Tim Short…A standout baseball player as well, he played first base and was a pitcher…His cousin, Ryne Jernigan, plays college baseball for South Alabama (began his career at Florida State)…Allen competed against Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic when he was in the ninth grade and Howard was a senior and remembers the occasion as the first time he was ever dunked on (by Howard)…Player he admires most on the basketball court is Larry Bird…Enjoys hunting and fishing…Grew up on a farm in Milton and spends a great deal of his free time working on the farm, bailing hay and riding tractors…Majoring in social and behavioral sciences.
