AS A SOPHOMORE (2007): Neer started 36 games behind the dish, four as the designated hitter and one as the first baseman…Played in 51 games...Hit .271 overall and had a .310 average in conference play...Seventeen of his 48 hits went for extra-bases, as he had a team-high 12 doubles and five homers...Drove in 33 runs, fifth-most on the club, and scored 29 runs...Threw out three of 43 base-runners...Ranked fourth on the Gators with a .310 SEC average and tallied 18 RBI...Was 1-for-7 (.143) at the SEC Tourney and had a sacrifice fly in the first meeting with South Carolina...Made two starts at DH and one at catcher when Tennessee visited Gainesville...Was 3-for-11 (.273) and scored five runs...Was 0-for-2 but was hit twice and scored a career-best three runs in the 20-2 victory over the Vols on Friday night...Started in three different positions at LSU, catcher in game one, as the DH in game two and at first base in game three...Was 4-for-14 (.286) on the Bayou and scored one run in each contest...Drove in two runs during the 19-3 in the opener...Powered UF’s offense with a .556 (5-for-9) series versus Alabama...Started the weekend by going 3-for-4 with three RBI, featuring two homers, as the Gators took a 6-2 win...Went 2-for-3 in Saturday’s 9-3 victory...Came through with a clutch pinch-hit single to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth against Kentucky on April 22...Chris Petrie followed with a walk-off single in the 5-4 win...Had a double in the win at FSU...Enjoyed a memorable series against South Carolina, as he led the Gators with a .462 (6-for-13) clip...Cranked a three-run walk-off homer to help the Orange and Blue rally from an 8-6 deficit for a 9-8 win on Saturday...Blow came with two down and two strikes...Set a career-high by going 3-for-3 in the first matchup with Carolina...Came off the bench and was 1-for-3 in the victory over FSU...Had a .333 (3-for-9) clip in the sweep of Georgia, with a career-high two doubles in the opener...Notched a pair of RBI in the second matchup with the Dawgs...Was 4-for-11 (.364) on the trip to Auburn, with all four hits in the final two games...Went 0-for-4 in the loss at Stetson...Went 4-for-14 (.286) to begin league action and tied for second on the club with five RBI...Scored two runs and had a stolen base as part of a 1-for-5 effort in the final meeting with the Bulldogs...Went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in game two at Texas A&M...Went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a couple of runs in the first meeting with GW but was hurt in the finale...Came off the bench to go 2-for-3 with three RBI at USF...Stroked a pinch-hit two-run single in the sixth to pull UF within 4-3 and provided an insurance run in the ninth by reaching on an infield hit...Went 3-for-10 (.300) during the Miami (Fla.) series and stole his first career base...Chipped in with two hits, including a two-bagger, in the season-opening win over the fifth-rated ‘Canes...Connected on his second dinger and was 2-for-4 with a career-high three RBI in the rout of Florida A&M...Hit .231 (3-for-13) against VMI and drove in a couple of runs with a two-run jack in the series finale.

AS A FRESHMAN (2006): Played in 15 games as a rookie and started six games as the Gators' designated hitter…Was 4-for-26 (.154) on the campaign with three RBI...Started all three games in the series with Texas A&M but was 0-for-7...Went 1-for-4 as the Gators’ DH in his starting debut on Feb. 25, a 10-3 win over Ohio State during The Pepsi Baseball Classic...Had a double and scored against Missouri... Poked a pinch-hit, two-run single in the eighth inning in the 15-5 victory over FAMU...Batting for Stephen Barton, Neer singled in his first career at bat on Feb. 10 against Cincinnati...The base hit to left plated Gavin Dickey.

SUMMER: Played for Winter Pines of the Florida Collegiate Summer League with Gator teammate Cody Wheeler last summer…Batted .250 in 26 games with 14 runs and 10 RBI for the Warthogs…Participated in the FCSL Home Run Derby at the league's All-Star Game.

HIGH SCHOOL:Four-year letterwinner at Edgewater High School for head coach Chip Gierke…A first-team all-state catcher in Class 6A during his senior year, Neer led the state with a .528 batting average, totaled 42 runs batted in and clouted eight homers…Had a .320 batting average as a junior, with 50 runs batted in and a team-high 25 walks…Rated as one of the top catchers by Team One Baseball and Perfect Game USA, Neer was a 2004 second-team all-state choice for the Eagles…Also chosen All-Orange County and all-district, Neer hit a sizzling .542 and paced his squad in runs batted in (43) and home runs (nine)….Was an honorable mention all-state, all-county and all-district honoree as a sophomore…Summer league team was the Dallas Panthers…Also lettered in basketball, football and soccer at EHS…Was a finalist for the 2005 Scholar-Athlete Award presented by the Downtown Club of Orlando.

PERSONAL: Cody William Neer was born Sept. 12, 1986, in Orlando, Fla…His parents are David and Melody Neer…Has two sisters, Stephanie, 28, and Erin, 21, and two brothers, David, 26, and Jeremy, 23…Has three nieces and two nephews…Enjoys fishing and hunting…Also considered attending Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Nebraska and UCF…Majoring in criminology.
