AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2007): Achieved SEC Academic Honor Roll honors for the second time…Was 7-for-32 (.219) in 19 games and made seven starts...Had a .143 (2-for-14) average in eight SEC games...Was 3-for-10 (.300) as a pinch hitter with two singles and a triple...Drew a pinch-hit walk against North Florida after going 0-for-3 in the Alabama series...Poked a one-out single in the home part of the ninth in the eventual 5-4 win over Kentucky on April 22...Had a career-high five at bats against Florida State and was 1-for-5...Came up with the bases loaded three times but stranded eight runners...Went 0-for-4 at Arkansas...Stole his first base since Feb. 26, 2005, versus Rhode Island with a theft in the first meeting with the Hogs...Delivered a pinch-hit single in the seventh versus Bethune-Cookman...Was 1-for-4 during the Mississippi State series...Started at DH in the second meeting with the Bulldogs and poked a two-run single in the first inning...Returned to the lineup against Army as a pinch hitter and was 0-for-1...Suffered an injured shoulder rounding first base in the series opener against Miami (Fla.) and missed 14 games…Returned to the lineup after missing the 2006 campaign and was 1-for-3 as the squad’s DH in the season opener versus VMI.

AS A FRESHMAN (2005): Started at the designated hitter position in 34 games, with the Gators finishing 27-7 (.794) in those outings...Played in 45 games, batting .292 on the season with 18 RBI...One of three UF baseball players named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll…Saw action in two NCAA College World Series games...Was the club's DH versus Arizona State on June 22, and provided UF's lone run with a two-out RBI single in the fifth...Served as a pinch hitter against Nebraska but popped up...Was 1-for-4 in NCAA Regional play and drew two walks...Enjoyed a solid showing in his first SEC Tourney, finishing 3-for-8 (.375) with a pair of doubles and two runs...Poked a pinch-hit RBI double in the visit to USF...Had walked in two-consecutive games...Was 4-for-6 (.667) against Kentucky and scored a season-high four runs in the second game, when he was 3-for-3 and connected on his second HR of the year...Went 1-for-4 in the opener against South Carolina...Led the Gators with a .545 (6-for-11) clip in the sweep of Michigan State...Opened the series by going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, including his first career triple and first dinger...Drove in three more runs as part of 2-for-4 effort in game two and wrapped up the series by going 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI...Was 1-for-4 and drew the game-winning walk in the 10th inning against Villanova on March 6 by taking a 3-2 pitch…Laced an RBI single as part of a 1-for-2 showing vs. Mercer...Went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs in the 6-0 shutout of Rhode Island on Feb. 26...Tallied the first two RBI of his career with a sacrifice fly and a double in the second rout of Florida A&M...Went 1-for-3 in the second game against Miami (Fla.)...Contributed a base-hit against Florida A&M on Feb. 15...Batted twice during seven-run seventh inning versus Charleston Southern...In his first plate appearance, Kubin was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a double by Brandon McArthur...He later flew out to end the frame...Went 2-for-4 in his debut on Feb. 12, a 3-2 edging of CSU...Legged out an infield hit in the ninth inning to advance Justin Tordi to third base, setting the stage for Daniel Brooks’ game-winning base-knock into right center.

SUMMER: Had a busy summer following the 2005 College World Series, splitting time between the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League and the Toms River (N.J.) Black Sox of the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League…Was picked as the Most Valuable Player of the ABCCL All-Star Game held at First Energy Park in Lakewood, N.J...Contributed a double, home run and sacrifice fly, driving in three RBI, to lead the Yogi Berra All-Stars to a 10-6 triumph over the Larry Doby All-Stars.

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner for head coach Scott Rowland at Oakton High School…Finished with a career batting average of .400 with 135 runs batted in and 26 home runs as the Cougars claimed three district championships…Selected to the 2004 ABCA & Rawlings High School All-Region 2 team…Member of Louisville Slugger's 2004 Preseason All-America list…Rated as the No. 17 prep prospect in the Class of 2004 by SchoolSports.com…Second-Team All-Met choice by The Washington Post…Had a .328 batting average and was among the district leaders with 28 RBI…Played in the inaugural AFLAC All-American High School Baseball Classic on Aug. 23, 2003, at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla…The game featured the top 40 rising senior players in the country in an East versus West matchup…Ranked 41st on Team One Baseball's top-200 senior list…Helped the Cougars to a 22-3 mark as a junior, when he batted .508 with 25 runs batted in and seven homers…Sported an eye-popping .905 slugging percentage and scored 29 runs…Chosen as an All-American in leading his high school to the AAA Concorde District championship…Achieved all-state status and collected all-regional honors…Named First-Team All-Met by the Washington Post…Hit .446 as a sophomore with 26 RBI and seven homers…Participated in the Perfect Game/Baseball America Wood World Bat Association Championships in October 2002…Chosen as the top hitter at the Area Code Games that year as well…Was Oakton's all-time leading scorer in basketball with 1,658 points, shattering the previous mark of 1,056 points…Became the only player in Concorde District history to earn all-district four years in a row…Named an honorable mention All-Met pick in his final campaign and also secured all-region acclaim.

PERSONAL: Jared Lawrence Kubin was born June 10, 1985, in Fairfax, Va…His parents are Larry and Mary Kubin…His father was a linebacker for Joe Paterno at Penn State between 1977-80 and played in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins (1981-84), Buffalo Bills (1985), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1985) and the Kansas City Chiefs (1986)…Enjoyed Super Bowl XVII triumph on Jan. 30, 1983, when the Redskins defeated the Miami Dolphins, 27-17…Has a brother, Kyle, 18, and a sister, Cailyn, 16…Majoring in political science.
