BRIAN FLEETWOOD
Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach
Fourth Season at Florida

Hired in the summer of 2002, Brian Fleetwood is in his fourth season with the University of Florida baseball program as its volunteer assistant coach. He serves as the Gators' first base coach and also helps instruct all players. His efforts have assisted UF in advancing to NCAA Regionals all three years of his tenure, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the 2005 NCAA College World Series in Omaha, Neb. He has also been the director of the University of Florida Baseball Camps for the past four summers.

Fleetwood arrived at Florida after serving the 2001-02 season as a graduate assistant coach at the University of North Florida under head coach Dusty Rhodes, who assisted Pat McMahon on the 2001 USA Baseball team. He also helped manage and coordinate the Dusty Rhodes Baseball Camps from 1999-2001. In addition, Fleetwood played for and coached with current UF assistant coach Ross Jones during the 2000 and 2001 campaigns. He possesses extensive Florida ties as his father, Ray Fleetwood, lettered for the Gator baseball team in 1968.

Fleetwood played first base and outfield at North Florida from 1997-2000. During his four-year varsity career, he helped lead the Ospreys to a 163-69 record (.703), two Peach Belt Conference titles and a pair of top-five national finishes. As a senior in 2000, he started all 63 contests, totaled 61 runs batted in, smacked 10 home runs and capped off his campaign by playing in the NCAA Division II World Series in Montgomery, Ala.

Fleetwood concluded his career as UNF's all-time career leader in games played (213), at bats (676), RBI (163) and home runs (36). He ranks among the school's career leaders in hits (188), runs scored (134) and doubles (33). As a freshman, he established a class record by belting nine home runs and was later named to the 1999 NCAA Division II South Atlantic Region All-Tournament team.

A Jacksonville resident most of his life, Fleetwood is a 1996 honors graduate of Mandarin High School, where he played baseball for head coach Joe Hicks. In addition, he earned Eagle Scout distinction, the Boy Scouts of America's highest honor, on Nov. 16, 1995.
