SUMMER: Was a member of the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League during the summer of 2005…In 18 games, he hit .239 (16-for-67) with seven runs and four RBI…Joined Gator teammates Stephen Barton and Jeff Corsaletti on the Rochester (Minn.) Honkers of the Northwest League in 2004…Batted .282, scored 18 runs and totaled 13 RBI over 29 games…Homered twice in the same inning during a 13-0 rout of Mankato on July 3…Laced an RBI single on the first pitch of his season debut on June 29 against Madison.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters playing for head coach Joey Fernandez…Was a first-team all-state selection in Class 4A as chosen by the Florida Sports Writers Association during his senior campaign…Took home the Tony Saladino Award, presented to the Hillsborough County Player of the Year…Previous winners include Tino Martinez and Gary Sheffield… Collected the Tampa Tribune County Player of the Year award…Received the John Lynch Award for the month of April 2003, awarded to the Tampa area athlete who demonstrates outstanding academic, athletic and community service…Batted .419 in his final prep season…Compiled a 7-3 record on the mound and registered a 1.34 earned run average…Participated in the Tampa Area North-South All-Star game…Three-time first-team All-Western Conference honoree…Named first-team all-county and as his team's Most Valuable Player as both a junior and senior…Hit .405 as a junior and swiped 12 stolen bases…Was an even 4-4 with a 1.88 ERA on the hill… As a sophomore, he hit .419 with 12 RBI and a pair of homers…Was chosen in the fifth round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
