AS A SOPHOMORE (2006): Invited to the 2006 USA National Team Trials…Earned second-team All-SEC honors after finishing 9-6 with a 3.07 earned run average in 15 starts…Tied for fourth in the league with 111.1 innings pitched and was sixth in both 98 strikeouts and lowest ERA…Opponents batted .241 against him, the ninth-lowest average in the SEC…Tossed a team-high three complete games (Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kentucky) and worked at least seven innings in 13 of his 15 starts…Collected four of the Gators' 10 wins in SEC action, highlighted by a 6-4 triumph over Eastern Division titlist and league co-champion Kentucky and a 4-3 decision over Western Division winner and league co-champion Alabama…Blazed out of the gates with a 5-0 ledger and three of his setbacks were by a single run…Went 8.1 innings against the Crimson Tide, allowing eight hits and three runs, as UF won the opener in Tuscaloosa…Held Auburn to three hits over seven innings in a 4-1 caging of the Tigers on April 22…Fired a complete game and totaled nine strikeouts in Lexington versus UK…Was the hard-luck loser in the second meeting with Texas A&M, despite a complete-game three-hitter in which he fanned eight Aggies and did not issue any walks…Registered a career-high 10 K over 7.1 innings in leading the Gators to a 10-3 triumph over Ohio State…Delivered a 4-1 win at Miami in the first road start of his career…Scattered five hits and tallied five strikeouts over seven innings versus the Hurricanes…Retired the first 23 batters he faced in his first start of the year against Cincinnati on Feb. 11…A two-out single through the right side of the infield spoiled his no-hit bid…The action versus the Bearcats was just his third career start…There have only been seven no-hitters in Florida's 92 years of baseball.
AS A FRESHMAN (2005): Made nine appearances on the mound with two starts during his rookie season…Tossed 16 innings and totaled 13 strikeouts and did not receive a decision…Pitched two innings, with a career-high three strikeouts and two earned runs versus Kentucky on April 2…Pitched 2.1 innings in a starting role against No. 20 UCF on March 22…Allowed three earned runs on five hits against the Golden Knights and the Gators used a 15-hit outburst on their way to a 17-6 triumph…Hurled a scoreless inning versus Michigan State in a 10-0 blanking of the Spartans…Starting debut occurred against UNC Asheville on March 9, when he hurled a career-high three innings… Allowed four runs and whiffed two batters, but UF was on the short end of an 8-5 score…Pitched 2.1 innings and allowed four hits in the series finale with Miami (Fla.) on Feb. 20…Fired two scoreless innings against Charleston Southern Feb. 13 in his first collegiate action.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach George Young at Sebastian River High School…Set a single-season strikeout record in 2004 with 123 K and was chosen as the Sharks' Most Valuable Player…Went 6-6 in his final season but registered a 1.26 earned run average…Was voted the Scripps' Newspaper Player of the Year for the Treasure Coast…First-team selection on Louisville Slugger's Preseason All-American list prior to his senior year…Went 7-3 as a junior with a 3.30 ERA and notched 103 strikeouts in 73 innings…Honorable mention all-conference choice that season…The Sharks finished 19-10 overall and were the runner-up in the Treasure Lake Conference…Squad also captured the Southeastern Classic Tournament title…Member of the Florida state champion Indian River Express Legion club…Compiled a 13-1 mark on the mound and registered a 2.13 ERA…The Express were 37-7…Member of the Student-Athlete Leadership Council.
