PREP: High school team played in state championships all four years he was with the team Was named Most Valuable Pitcher in 2001 and again in 2003 as a senior Helped lead Lassiter to the second round of the 5A state baseball tournament as the team finished 25-6 as a senior when he was named first-team all-county Team won regional championship as a senior As a senior he went 7-2 with a 1.17 ERA in 54.0 innings pitched while also striking out 66 with just 13 walks Pitched a three hitter with 10 strikeouts as team knocked off the fourth ranked team in the nation Pelham (Ala.) 2-0 in his final prep sezson Was rated the 54th best high school prospect in the nation by Team One Baseball Led Lassiter High School to a 28-10 record and 4A state runner-up finish as a junior Named All-Atlanta Metro and was a first-team All-Cobb County selectee, while being named the Team MVP that season He also was selected to play for Team Georgia and was the Player of the Game in the first-round of the state championships That season he went 8-1 with 74 strikeouts and a 2.23 ERA in 72.0 innings on the mound At the plate he hit .405 with five homers and 19 RBI In his sophomore year in being named All-Cobb County honorable mention he was 8-3 with a 3.00 ERA as his team finished 21-9 with a Region 6 runner-up finish His 23 career victories are tied for the most in a career at Lassiter High School Was coached by Mickey McMurtry Was drafted in the 44th round by the Cleveland Indians in the June 2003 Amateur Draft.
