AS A SOPHOMORE (2004): Played in nine games and started twice in left field for the Gators…Batted .333 (4-for-12) and drove in two runs…Went 2-for-8 (.250) as a pinch hitter and scored a couple of runs…Contributed a hit in three of his nine outings…Drove in a run on St. Patrick's Day against Army…Enjoyed a 2-for-2 showing in 12-3 win over Northwestern on Feb. 29…Delivered a pinch-hit single in 9-4 decision over Michigan on Feb. 25…First hit at Florida was a run-scoring single as a pinch hitter in 9-8 edging of Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 22.
AT SOUTH FLORIDA C.C. (2003): Spent one year at South Florida Community College under head coach Richard Hitt…Batted .295 with 27 RBI and 27 runs…Smacked 12 doubles, swatted three homers, stole two bases and had a triple…Patrolled left field primarily.
SUMMER: Played for the Harrisonburg (Va.) Turks of the Valley League in 2002 and 2003…Earned the league's Player of the Week kudos during the opening week of season by going a perfect 7-for-7 with two RBI and a double in the first two games…Through seven games, he was hitting .520 (13-of-25) with three doubles, three runs, three RBI and two stolen bases… Finished the year batting .331 and was second on the team in hits…Drove in 18 runs, scored 10 times and had 10 doubles, leading to a .381 on-base percentage…Represented the West team in the midseason All-Star game, a contest his team won by a 7-4 margin…Finished ninth in the balloting for the Valley League Most Valuable Player…An injury forced him to leave the Turks after only six games in '02…Had batted .333 (6-for-18) in limited action….Also played three years for the American Legion Post 334 team based in North Tampa…Team finished as the state runner-up in 2000.
