STORYLINE: Ramsey, a lefthander who was drafted in the 11th Round of the 2001 MLB Draft, returns to Florida after leading the Gators in earned run average (2.24), saves (nine), strikeouts (56) and appearances (31). This year, he could see action in the weekend starting rotation and emerging last year as UF's closer. He ranked nationally in two categories (19th ERA- 2.24 and tied for 20th in saves- nine) and also ranked second among SEC leaders in four categories- saves (9), games finished (27), appearances (31) and games in relief (31). His nine saves were the seventh all-time season best total in UF history and his 31 appearances ranks tied for eighth all time.

2001: Appeared in 31 games, all in relief...Led squad with 2.24 ERA and nine saves...Struck out 9.63 batters per 9.0 IP...Opposing batters hit only .245 on season vs. him...Named to Alasport.com All SEC Second Team...Earned Best Pitcher Award at team banquet...Finished with 1.29 ERA, 1-1 record, three saves and 15 strikeouts in 14.0 IP in February...1.38 ERA, 2-0 record, three saves and 14 strikeouts in 13.0 IP in April...Finished with 1.88 ERA, 16 strikeouts in 14.1 IP with two saves in May...Did not blow a save all season...Closed out two games and played crucial role in Gators' two shutouts on year (1-0 at Vanderbilt, 3/31 and 10-0 vs. Florida Atlantic, 3/28)...Went nine consecutive appearances and a month without giving up an earned run, 3/17-4/15...During that period, had 0.00 ERA, 2-0 record, four saves, struck out 16 batters in 13.1 IP...Earned ninth save of year, pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and struck out two in SEC Tourney vs. Tennessee, 5/17...Threw career-high 4.0 innings, allowed six hits, two runs and struck out three vs. South Carolina, 5/13...Pitched 3.2 innings, allowed three hits in save at Auburn, 5/5...Earned save, pitched out of a bases loaded jam with two outs vs. Georgia, 4/15...Struck out four batters, earned save in 2.1 IP outing vs. Kentucky, 4/8...Earned back-to-back saves in consecutive appearances at Vanderbilt, 3/31 and vs. Florida A&M, 4/4...Pitched 3.0 innings, allowed no runs, two hits and struck out four in earning save at Florida State, 2/18...Won first game after throwing 1.1 IP and allowing no earned runs vs. Florida State, 2/24...Earned first save in 2.1 IP, career-high five strikeout performance vs. Charleston Southern, 2/14...Pitched in first career game vs. Savannah State, 2/7.

1999-2000 AT L.A. HARBOR J.C.: Played two years at L.A. Harbor in Wilmington, Calif. where he played two years of baseball for head coach Jay Uhlman...Two-time all conference player...Finished with 1-1 record, one save, 2.31 ERA and struck out 28 batters in 31.1 innings pitched as a sophomore...Also played outfield and hit .361 with six doubles, 26 runs scored and 22 RBI...Earned "Best Hitter" awards...Hit .420 (42-100) with 18 runs, seven doubles and 20 RBI as a freshman...Also appeared in six games a pitcher and finished 1-1 in conference play with a 1.10 ERA...Led all hitters with .500 batting average in conference play as a freshman...Named Academic All America as a sophomore.

SUMMER BASEBALL: Played in the SMBL American League where he batted .331 with 19 RBI, 21 steals and 10 doubles and also pitched (0.00 ERA, six saves)...Also has played with the Melville Millionaires and the Compton Rottweilers. PREP: A 1998 graduate of Loyola High School where he played for head coach Chris Possemato...Named First All CIF, all league, all conference...Hit .510 (42-80) with 10 doubles, 18 runs and 21 RBI and finished 2-1 with a save and 3.95 ERA as a senior...Named MVP of the SoCal Challenge...Also played soccer where he led his team to a state championship as a goalie...Named to Honor Roll as sophomore...Selected CIF Goalie of the Year...Owns two school soccer records shutouts (21) and goals against average (0.33).
