AS A FRESHMAN (2002): Made 12 appearances, including one start, in posting a 1.40 ERA on the mound…Did not have a decision but recorded one save in 19.1 innings…Hitters batted just .247 against him…In four SEC outings, Falkenbach did not permit a run in five innings…Saved the second victory over Bethune-Cookman in the NCAA Regional on June 1 by finishing the final 3.2 frames…Went three innings in his first collegiate start on May 7 versus South Florida and allowed three hits with a walk…Totaled three K against the College of Charleston on March 12 and fired two shutout innings…Did not allow an earned run in 10 of his 12 appearances.
SUMMER: Played for the Rochester (Minn.) Honkers of the Northwoods League with teammates Mike Pete and Jeff Corsaletti in 2002…Went 5-3 with a 1.67 ERA and league-leading 85 strikeouts…Finished second in the league in earned run average… Tossed a pair of complete games, fired two one-hitters and had a single-game high of 12 strikeouts…His 75.2 innings of work ranked fourth in the league…First-team All-Star selection by the Northwoods League…At the time, his ERA and strikeout totals placed him third all-time in Rochester's single-season history…Played for the Parkland (Fla.)
