AS A JUNIOR (2004): SEC Academic Honor Roll selection for the second time…Made 17 appearances on the mound and had 14 starts, including 10 in league play…Worked four or more innings in 11 starts…Registered a 4-5 mark with a 4.24 earned run average overall and was 2-4 with a 4.34 ERA against conference foes…Pitched 76.1 innings, totaled 34 strikeouts and issued six walks…Handed out a free pass in just five of his 17 appearances and walked more than one batter only once…Fired back-to-back complete games, the first pair of his career, in his two postseason starts with mixed results…Twirled a four-hit shutout versus UCLA on June 6 as the Gators punched their ticket to the NCAA Super Regional with an 11-0 rout of the Bruins…The righty fanned a career-high six batters and did not permit any walks…Boss joined teammates Jeff Corsaletti, Ben Harrison (Most Outstanding Player) and C.J. AS A SOPHOMORE (2003): Earned a berth on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the first time…Made 20 appearances with six starts in his second season as a Gator…Was fourth on the team with 51 innings thrown…Gave up 57 hits with nine walks and accrued 31 strikeouts…Limited opposing hitters to a .275 batting average…Worked what were then a career-high six innings at Ole Miss on May 9, scattering six hits and one run…Turned in a five-inning relief stint in the nightcap of a doubleheader at No. 14 Auburn on May 3…Gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) with a pair of strikeouts and two walks against the Tigers…Suffered a 5-4 defeat in his first SEC start at Georgia on April 18…Worked 3.1 frames and was charged with seven hits and four runs…Recorded a stretch of 12.1 consecutive scoreless innings in six relief appearances between March 11-April 13…Notched a save on April 13 versus South Carolina in which he matched a career-high with four strikeouts and gave up one single hit in 3.2 innings…Collegiate starting debut was a successful venture, as Boss allowed two hits in three innings in the second game of a twinbill versus Hofstra on Feb. 23…Had two or more strikeouts eight times.
AS A FRESHMAN (2002): Named as an Honorable Mention Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball…Proved to be a potent weapon out of the bullpen for the Gators, making 18 appearances as a short reliever and picking up two saves…Hurled 24.1 innings and allowed 12 earned runs for a 4.44 ERA…Registered 26 strikeouts and issued five walks for a better than 5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio…Appeared eight times during SEC play, totaling 10.2 innings, but did not have any decisions…Kept Bethune-Cookman off the scoreboard over two frames as UF opened the NCAA Gainesville Regional with a 13-1 triumph on May 31…Threw 1.2 scoreless innings versus Alabama in the SEC Tournament on May 25 and permitted just one base-runner…Garnered save against Georgia on April 26 by laboring 3.1 innings as the Gators claimed the opener of the weekend set…Earned first career save on April 20 in 8-7 edging of Vanderbilt…Allowed the Commodores one hit and had two strikeouts in 1.2 IP…Collegiate debut occurred against Austin Peay on March 8 in which he fanned two batters and gave up one hit in one inning…Boss struck out at least one batter in 15 of his 18 appearances.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2001 graduate of Dunnellon High School, where he lettered four years for head coach Mike Payne…Two-time first-team all-state Class 3A selection, four-time all-area, two-time All-Gulf Coast Conference member…Selected as the Ocala Star-Banner Player of the Year and Ocala News Player of the Year…Concluded prep career with a 35-11 record, 457 strikeouts and 78 walks in over 300 innings pitched…Twirled nine one-hitters and crafted one no-hitter…Went 8-4 with a 1.14 ERA and struck out 142 batters in 12 starts as a senior…Also batted .375 and drove in 22 runs…Concluded his junior year with a 13-1 record and a scant 0.59 ERA…Totaled 169 K, allowed 32 hits and issued just 16 walks in 101 innings…Turned in a remarkable stretch of 43 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run…Led Dunnellon to a 27-5 overall record and a Class AA final eight appearance as a junior…Selected to the All-East team at the Area Code Games…Was also named to the Honorable Mention All-Area Code team, representing the top 25 players at the Games…Rated No. 86 among the top-200 potential 2001 draftees by Baseball America and ranked 86th on the Rivals100 top-100 list of potential draftees…Won 10 games on the mound as a sophomore…A member of the National Honor Society, Boss was an All-Gulf Coast Conference academic selection who graduated with high honors…Lettered twice in football.
